The number of other D-1 offers Sherod and Buckingham had between them, including 5 BCS offers. Impressive. Getting these type of recruit makes it easier for other heavily recruited players to come here. Congrats to Mooney and his staff.

And let this kill the myth that we like to tell ourselves that we can't compete with the big boys. Both of these kids could have let there recruitment go on into the Fall and both would have picked up even more BCS offers. They chose to come here.

love the verbals, but the myth doesn't change. we're at or near the top of both of their "active" offers and its always a special situation when you're a local school. they've been around UR, and our coaches have certainly been around them a long time. terrific job by CM and staff making them a long term priority. we might have gotten lucky with Buckingham's injury keeping him a little under the radar, and Shaka leaving couldn't have hurt. Sherod worried me as he was blowing up this summer on top of his big junior year. glad he's sure already, as we'd be fighting off a lot of contenders if this dragged on.
