Pretty sure. Had this been Friday, when I am getting knocked out for a routine medical procedure, I might have wondered.you sure you weren't dreaming?
some really tough games there. I'd say VCU has the weakest of the ones listed ... but we aren't even mentioned.
Furman?some really tough games there. I'd say VCU has the weakest of the ones listed ... but we aren't even mentioned.
what's our best game again?
Furman?
Word, but not official word is that VCU is also playing Clemson and Utah State at neutral sites.some really tough games there. I'd say VCU has the weakest of the ones listed ... but we aren't even mentioned.

Good Luck Friday.Pretty sure. Had this been Friday, when I am getting knocked out for a routine medical procedure, I might have wondered.
Right now probably Furman or Illinois State if we get them in MTE or So Illinois. Our schedule is not bad right now but still a lot left to be desired. We need a couple quality games on our schedule. Rest of A10 is getting them which is good for the league, but we need to get them too.some really tough games there. I'd say VCU has the weakest of the ones listed ... but we aren't even mentioned.
what's our best game again?
WTF. Has he looked at who VCU, Dayton, SLU are playing before going on and whining about how hard it is to schedule P5's. I'm not taking away it is more difficult but lots of A-10 schools are getting it done as evidenced by the post above. Richmond isn't though. So quit going on podcasts, whining about it and get it done.
I count 9 games accounted for...7 regular games, and 2 in the MTE.Looks like we’re also playing the citadel and VMI according to this JOC tweet. So 10 of 13 games are known. With this dataset, I can officially say this schedule is bad. We have 3 games left to schedule quality teams. If we schedule 2 I will upgrade it to okay. If 1 or fewer, than it’s officially a very bad schedule in a year where other A10 teams are getting good games. Very disappointing.
Are we even trying at this point? It's one thing to whine about how we can't schedule good games on a podcast and then we turn around the next day and literally sign the 3rd worst team in the NET last year to play.I count 9 games accounted for...7 regular games, and 2 in the MTE.
For anyone curious, The Citadel went 1–25 against D-I competition last season and finished #362 out of 364 in the N.E.T. Their lone D-I win was over #353 Stetson.
true. I'm not sure every A10 team (including us) SHOULD be playing top 25 type teams if they're trying to build a smart schedule. but you do it for your players and fans anyway.Hey, we played Auburn and we all saw how that went.
I'm all for playing quality Top 25ish teams, but the decision to play at Auburn (the number 1 seed in the entire tournament) last year is not a smart scheduling decision. Getting your a**es handed to you is not good for player or fans. There are 65 P5 teams, lets try not to play away games at any of the Top 5, the talent differential is just too great. That still leave us with 60 other more competitive options to play.true. Exactly. If Davidson can put this OOC schedule together than we should be able to as well. I bet McKillop isn't whining on a podcast about it being too hard.I would take Davidson's OOC:
Davidson
vs Saint Mary's
vs Temple
@ Kansas*
vs BC/Tulane/Utah State (2 games)
This is the school we seem to compare ourselves to the most in the A10. But we hear Moon and some posters constantly remind us that IT IS SO HARD. But too hard. Oh yeah , they have a celebrity GM. Not sure that factors in, I'm sure that will be the excuse as to why they can schedule and we cannot. But we have made no effort to enlist a GM - we are Looking Into It (for the future when there may actually be a completely different dynamic in place where it is not relevant).
But it is too hard.
Our NET (excuse me our N-E-T) will drop even if we win this game. Might as well play a D3 team, at least that doesn't hurt your N-E-T..I count 9 games accounted for...7 regular games, and 2 in the MTE.

Speaking of not the best timimg, I wouldn't be talking about scheduling after last year's 8 D1 wins season. Our OOC schedule is terrible again, and even though we can all agree it is harder to get good games now, I find it hard to believe the best we can do is last year's schedule and the first 9 games mentioned this year. This is beyond frustrating.2 things based on that video.
1) I think Mooney’s statements further reinforces my point that the staff has been trying to get quality games, and not shying away from them like others have suggested. It’s just been hard for them to do so, which to an extent I completely understand.
2) Perhaps not the best timing to mention other A10 teams are struggling for quality games too when plenty of A10 teams are getting good schedules this year. He calls out Dayton who is playing @Marquette @Cincinnati, vs. Florida State, and a great MTE with P5s. SLU who is playing vs. Grand Canyon vs. San Francisco and a great MTE with P5s. And VCU who is playing vs. New Mexico, @NC State and a great MTE with P5s. These are games so far with more to potentially come.
Hey, at least we don't have Christopher Newport or Virginia Wesleyan on the schedule. Yet.Speaking of not the best timimg, I wouldn't be talking about scheduling after last year's 8 D1 wins season. It was refreshing to hear him take some accountability that is for sure.Kudos to Mooney for openly acknowledging that he did a poor job last year in the interview. Many here have been wanting Mooney to take more ownership in this way. Sounds like from Mooney in this interview and the interview with Tanner, that there’s a more urgent mentality this year with the team. This needs to be an every year thing, but glad that it’s publicly expressed that last year was unacceptable.
Apparently the Spiders get an even more obscure team to open the 2025-2026 season - DIII Southern VA. Bob Black mentioned that HE was disappointed with the opening game on his show today. Of course, he did do his best to spin the “quality” of the schedule in the rest of the conversation.Hey, at least we don't have Christopher Newport or Virginia Wesleyan on the schedule. Yet.
Please tell me you’re joking. Please. I beg of you.
Until we start winning games with strong regularity, the Quads and N E T are totally irrelevant. The only way we dance is to win the A-10 tourney. Our NET (excuse me our N-E-T) will drop even if we win this game. Might as well play a D3 team, at least that doesn't hurt your N-E-T..
