2024 NIT Changes ...

Not much if anything that mid majors are going to like about this .. much less low majors

This is ridiculous and maddening. I could understand not giving regular season winners auto bids, but just straight up reserving bids for 2 mediocre teams in those 6 conferences and guaranteeing them home games is insulting.

not like the NIT wouldn't invite 10+ of those big conference teams anyway. I may be wrong, but generally think that they do go for them regardless each year. But yeah, if it means a team like the B10 gets 9 bids again, and the 10th/11th place teams are .500 or even below, is a slap in the face to grant them auto-bids.

Also, no mention of what happens when one of those auto-offers gets rejected by a program. Does it open up or does it slide to the 3rd non-NCAA team from that league?

P6 teams complained about having to go play actual road games, sometimes at Podunk U, and this is the outcome. Now basically it's guaranteed that P6 teams get to play home games throughout except against other P6 teams if they make it that far. The NCAA was tired of them declining the bids altogether, so they sweetened the pot.
