Jacksonville U drops their football program.
You need to own an airline if you play in the Pioneer League given the diverse geography of its members.Marist,Stetson,San Diego have some real traveling with away games. For other members getting to those 3 locations it ain’t a short bus ride.
JAX is a private university with 3,200 undergraduates and an endowment of only $45 million.JAX had no big money games to pay for a portion of its program.Their biggest money game was against UR.

I assume you mean PFL (Pioneer) not PL (Patriot)...Yea I never understood how those schools don’t bleed more money than the scholarship programs considering the travel involved. I know most those schools used to play D3 before the ncaa forced their hand in the early 90s to move up. Some of those schools moved to scholarship like Duquesne and Georgetown eventually. Davidson and Dayton remained non scholarship. Always thought the PL would be a good cheap way start to start FCS football without fully commiting it.
Wonder if Jacksonville got a few players who would make a nice edition to our team? At least good enough to play
or give us some needed depth.
I realize it's not this simple, but.....
You discontinue football for financial reasons.
Your football team is non-scholarship.
You offer a full ride to all of the football players who choose to stay.
This was my first reaction too. Seems like a decent deal. Go there and pay tuition to play football ... and end up not playing football for free tuition?
Wonder if they have any coaches we should consider? We could use a couple.Jacksonville U drops their football program.
Every single women's basketball program in the country loses money. Is it also a money pit?
And they all lose money. Stanford averages about 3K fans per game.UConn,Tennessee,Baylor,ND,Stanford Women’s b-ball each generate more revenue
than most FCS combined.

How about the other 300+ women's basketball programs?
Montana football turns a $3 million profit. NDSU football is profitable. So is Montana State, and I'm certain there are other examples as well.Try this from the Hartford Courant. This will shed some light on your incorrec
They are all money losers just like 120 FCS football teams.Likely most FBS lose money too.Just like 300 Men’s basketball teams.Add up all those losses and its staggering. The model as framed is not sustainable. The winners are BCS football and 25 basketball programs and the networks.

PS: Thanks to generous network TV contracts, no P5 program, Notre Dame, BYU or Army loses money. So that's 68 programs, about half of the FBS programs in the country.
I'd like to think the thousands of athletes who participate in intercollegiate athletics, many with partial or full scholarships, are winners as well.
Go to the link, input the required info, see for yourself. Show all work. Please forward the operating profit results for the The 2 Montanas and NDSU.PDF file would be ok.
130 BCS/FBS + 120 FCS = D1 football
Non BCS and all FCS lose money. All require subsidy.
Army will never lose money.Uncle Sam is Great a printing greenbacks.
Not the point. Yea somebody wins the lottery but.....the vast majority don’t. Just like the vast majority of women’s sport run a deficit. In fact the majority of non revenue (kind of by definition) men’s sports run a deficit. I’d like to know how much in designated contributions go to these sportsUConn,Tennessee,Baylor,ND,Stanford Women’s b-ball each generate more revenue
than most FCS combined.
