Yes, apparently it's time to kick this one off. Looks like both of these kids are 2019s from Providence area.
Besides the five guys we've already offered for zero spots? Are we skipping 2018?

Bryce Golden is 2018 and has an offer I believe. If you've got names of guys we've expressed interest in but haven't offered yet, by all means start one.
Yes, we have threads for four out of the five guys we've offered for 2018, including Bryce. All are linked in the pinned Recruiting Tracker thread.Bryce Golden is 2018 and has an offer I believe.
I just watched 4 years of that. Time to move on.
He shoots better than Joakim...
Rivals has released their Top 125 for 2019...guys we've offered:
#6 Bryan Antoine
#8 Scottie Lewis
#15 Armando Bacot
#97 Kobe Brown
No way we're in the mix with teammates Antoine and Lewis. Have heard nothing about us being mentioned with them since we offered a long time ago.
Bacot has the local connection, which is the only thing that could in any way give us a shot. He's got ~30 offers.
Brown has 25 offers. He's from Khwan's high school, so that would be the hook for us.

Verbal Commits still has all 4 as 2 stars, they are really getting behind in updating...Rivals has released their Top 125 for 2019...guys we've offered:

I expect our 4 commits to be Barrett, Antoine, Lewis, & Bacot.
Did I mention our new coach is $tan$bury from WKU?
Half the P5 has offered Bacot, including Kansas, UVA and some other top tier schools. I don't think we are even on his radar. Brown also has a lot of solid P5 offers. These are not the types of players Mooney brings in, I think we have a better chance of making the final 4. Though if we somehow get either Bacot or Brown I would be very happy.

This is a kid I think we should take a shot at, we probably have spoken with him I'm sure. He really blew up this spring. I spoke with him early in the spring and he is a very intelligent and articulate, and humble guy. He did tell me that we had coaches at his prep schools' open gyms a couple times. Obviously very difficult get, but he seems like the type of young man to thoughtfully consider all offers.
I completely agree with this sentiment normally, and it probably would be a waste of time now that he has blown up. I do think this kid has a little (or lot) more perspective than a typical top 100 prospect (read pampered/touted/over adulated, etc) and would be more open to fit than highest offer. I tend to agree with Webspinner that these guys have trouble turning down the school that sounds best in the lunch room, but I just think this guy is a little different. There is only so much time in the day for recruiting, building relationships, and I think we need to have an 'in' with these types of players before we start putting time in to recruiting them. I would only go after this caliber player if they are local or already have some sort of connection to our program. It seems like a bad use of our limited recruiting resources to go after a player like this, an out of state player who is already bringing in offers from recent national champions and has no connection to our program.

This is such an entertaining thread in a fairy tale sort of way. We have not an ice cube's chance in hell of landing any of these guys. I'll throw out a couple reasons. 1. Mooney 2. Admissions 3. A-10 4. the allure of the P-5 5. We are not VCU/Dayton/SLU 6. We are just little ole Richmond who can't do any better. You and I can pick our respective reasons and argue as to the why but the end result is the same. They aren't coming here. Get back to me in a few month when we are sweating out whether the kid with offers from High Point and JMU is going to pick us.

I prefer reality. If you would like to put a wager of some type down as to whether we land one of these kids, let me know, I'd be happy to engage in a little friendly competition. Finally, a breath of sunshine. Thanks, 97.
Since we are operating in make believe land, you owe me a thousand bucks on that bet in which I took Buckingham to Richmond (over UVA, Cincinnati, etc).I prefer reality.
