2018 Season

You're upset that his first season he win's 6 out of 11? Huesman didn't have anything to do with the Rocco debacle. He's simply a new coach. Give him a couple of years then make some assessment.

OMG I was being sarcastic. I was specifically responding to a poster who is unimpressed by Huesman, but is our staunchest defender of another coach who is sub-55% and lost to Delaware last year.

I am a Huesman fan; I have no idea what to expect this season. I think he'd admit we underperformed last season.

when I asked sarcasm I hope and you didn't answer yes I assumed you were serious. And it appears some of the posters take that position??? with out facial or tonal expressions it is hard to tell.

It's all good. And I did answer "yes." :)

I am a huge Huesman fan. Having said that, if anyone is to "blame" for the Spiders underperforming last year, it's not the players. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Lesson learned...

I'm a Huesman fan as a coach. Also, like he has his coaches taking an aggressive approach when
it comes to recruiting. Quote from an ex pro BB coach - "players make the coach, the coach doesn't
make the players."

To come in on the tail end of recruiting cycle, with a new coaching staff and new
system on both sides of the ball, we did ok last year. All games were competitive
and several games could have gone either way. But in fairness to Huesman and
staff, it takes a few years to get the program to the optimum level: recruits to match
the system.

I see us as being always competitive, but a couple years away from being at our best
since we must allow for a few recruiting cycles.

More importantly, win, lose or draw, we will drink to it. Roll Spide!

Lots of things at the beginning of the season were beyond the control of the coaching staff. We showed constant improvement and played well in our final three games. This year, we will be better on defense - and our offense will give fits to some of our opponents. Love the coaching staff that has a team constantly improving throughout the year.

But please beat Delaware...

At our level of sport, I don't think so. We're not getting 5 star recruits in either sport. These are young kids that have potential and it's up to the coach and the player to develop it. And it's up to the coach to create a system that gives the player the best opportunity to succeed.

I will play Devil's Advocate to his discussion and say success depends on both sides. Huesman's offense and defense require quicker linemen and skill players. So the players must be more athletic and faster, not necessarily bigger. The players must match the system needs for the program to be successful.
