Womens - GW @ RC - Wed 2/19 6:00 PM ESPN+

Spider women’s lacrosse game against Navy is getting moved from Wednesday to Tuesday. Granted it’s outdoors, but wonder if there will be a schedule change for the basketball game too.

I doubt it. Hoops usually plays regardless of weather. As long as GW gets down here before the snow, game will probably happen.

Another game where an inferior opponent put up a good fight, but Spiders get the win. Probably a combination of opponents playing up (it’s their Super Bowl!) and us not having great games.

Hope we get our piece straightened out…would love to win out the regular season and then aA-10 tournament is going to be super tough.

VCU playing their Super Bowl against us is still 1 of the funniest things I've read on here.

Joe’s lost to Rhody today. Really wanted them to stay perfect to max the value of our two games against them.

These games are grinds. We have to stay on top of our game every night out as teams give us their best shot. The foul that led to the Roussell technical was worst call I saw all year. Felt like the officials were off tonight. No excuses, we did not close out well on 3 point shooters and other than Duggan, I thought GW wanted the rebounds more. But a win is a win.

Robert Fish has done play-by-play for some of the WBB games and Craig Kocher (University Chaplain) does some as well including Wednesday's GW game. Although I've never seen anything introducing him in depth, I'm pretty sure the color commentary is handled by Darrell Owens. He runs a sports media company called Legacymaker Sports Network.

Another gritty win, which is always a positive, but starting to get a little worrisome. 2 games that were close until the end, which shouldn’t have been. Again, I think this is a testament to the depth of the A10 conference as a whole. Still, if we play like this the last 3 games, I wouldn’t be surprised if we find ourselves on the losing end. Definitely if we play like this in the tournament. Hope the team remains motivated. Every game matters not only for A10 regular season championship, A10 tournament seeding, but also NCAA as well. Have to bring our “A” game the rest of the season.

I agree that the overall level of play has taken a couple of steps back the last few games. Seems like some panic has set in to me, but fortunately have had enough to get the wins. Normally I would say it would be a good thing to lose a game in the regular season to use to refocus and take some the the pressure off. However, if the Spiders want to keep the possibly of an at-large bid they simply cannot lose in the conference season.

Have definitely enjoyed watching the ladies play, but hasn’t been as fun due to the recent decline. Hopefully the day off today gives them some new life and we can see another no questions asked win against VCU.

Go Lady Spiders!

Native - seems a bit harsh to me. Roussell and Doogan postgame mentioned that they had been going ten days without a break and today would be their first off-day in a while. I think they're just tired but then everyone is at this point in the season. We dropped two more spots in the NET after yesterday's game (now 34) but feel like we are still safely on track for a bid.

My biggest concern at the moment is the injury Jimenez sustained yesterday. Hopefully nothing is broken and she'll be back soon as she's proven to be a valuable reserve.

@Section 204and5 Yes the season is long and they have had a grind. Although the first game where I saw the panic was St. Joe’s which was at the beginning of the long stretch. Part of it is getting spoiled by some really great play the 8 games prior. We all know that the Lady Spiders are going to get the best from their opponents too.

But like @spiderstudent17 I have the sense that the team is a little shaky in the confidence department. However, they have kept the winning streak alive, so doing what they need to do. Just know that the deck is stacked against the mid-major teams, so not much room for error.

Just my gut feeling, but I think this team is due a loss. Let’s just hope it happens against a Davidson or Saint Joe’s now and not in A10 tournament. Could be a lot more pressure playing on a win streak of 15+ games. As long as we don’t lose more than one regular season game, I think we are safely in the NCAA tournament.

I think this is fair... and I also kinda mentally penciled in the @St Joes game as a loss basically when the schedule came out. My mind hasn't really changed. But I don't think it ultimately matters to our long term prospects this year.... and perhaps most importantly, I know they're gonna be prepared and play their asses off. I'm really, really proud of this group from coaches all the way down. I echo Section 204and5's sentiment re: Jimenez. She's a huge piece for us off the bench defensively.

Agree with all of this 100%.

Gonna disagree with u again…ha…I’d rather lose in a10 tourney than reg season. Because mortal lock we get bid if only lose in A10 tourney. So I think pressure is off if we win out reg season. Because we know we’re in. I don’t know team psyche but I don’t really see the win streak as adding pressure. Drop a couple games then there’s real pressure in a10.

Now I agree we can take another reg season loss. Better it’s to the Joes because we have 2 quad 4 losses already we don’t want a 3rd. And then if u lose early in A10 tourney it could be a little risky. Because if talking at large we r presuming a loss. Really 2 minimum in your scenario.

I think our metrics r quite good assuming a10 reg season champ, good Ok state win, very challenging OOC, we were good team last year that helps imo a bit…so we have things in our favor. So I’d hope we’d be fine regardless…but a loss in reg season esp not to Joes adds some risk. I’d prefer to take risk out so win out reg season & then we could lose rd1 in A10 & be perfectly fine.

Now if we want 7 seed we probably need to not lose at all again or maybe lose in finals to right team while having some blowout wins too. I’m not as familiar w women bracketology tho.

Would love for us to win out, like you and everyone else, but if we're operating under the hypothetical scenario where we are going to lose 1 game, I still don't see why you would rather lose in A10 tourney than regular season. The only 100% lock we are guaranteed a bid is if we win the tourney, so from that perspective I would rather do that. Plus we can bring back more hardware, which is always nice.

My vote is losing to St. Joe's in regular season because that won't hurt our NCAA at-large chances or seeding that much. We are projected as high as a 7 seed, so if we also lost in the A10 tournament, 2 losses to quality teams like St. Joe's, GMU, or Davidson might move us down to a 10, 11, or 12 seed at worst. I think from a psychological perspective, the team will feel confident that they still can make a bid, and will play with less pressure by not carrying such a big win streak and having an even larger targets on our back. This team also bounces back well after losses, and can play with a new motivation.

Although to this team's credit, they have shown resilience, resolve, ability to stay committed to their goals, welcome the pressure of the "team to beat" rather than shy away from it. Best option is we finish the regular season undefeated AND win the A10 tournament!

I wouldn't rather. But I didn't view the hypothetical as 1 loss total. because the whole context was at large bid. U only get at large bids when you don't win the conference tourney. Yes technically only 100% if win tourney, but I'd say just about 100 if we win out reg season and then lose. when u said "As long as we don’t lose more than one regular season game, I think we are safely in the NCAA tournament."...doesn't that factor in losing somewhere in A10 tourney too? 2 losses total. idk i could have misread. there is less pressure when u don't have to win. if we lose a game in reg season I just think it increases our pressure for at large, at least somewhat. if we lose 2 reg season, even more pressure. Now I think we'd still be safe w 1 reg season loss but you'd have a little worry. I'd have no worry if we win out reg season.

It sounded to me like u felt losing an A10 reg season game will increase our odds of winning A10 tourney...which it might...but the negative there is it would decrease our at large odds. So personally I don't make that trade.

I bet the league office is hoping we win out reg season essentially guaranteeing AT Large bid for A10 and then want us to lose in A10 tourney & locking in 2 bids.

Looking back I could’ve been more clear in how I articulated it, but ya I’m thinking that we are due for a loss and - my hope at least - is we get it out of the way now in regular season, so we can regroup for the A10 tournament to win it. But I also acknowledge that this team has grit and you know Roussell will have this team fired up no matter what.

Well too bad for the league office because we’re going for the repeat!
