Womens - A10 Semifinals - St Joes @ Henrico Events Center - Saturday 3/8 11am - CBS Sports Network

Will be a very tough game tomorrow. Was hoping for Rhode Island who will have more tired legs, but no easy games in March. Team will have to lock in tomorrow. Hard to beat a quality team like St. Joes 3 times in one season. Should be a good one!

This will be the third time we've played St Joe's in less than 30 days. We played them on 2/13, 3/1 and tomorrow is 3/8. Playing the same team three times in 24 days is a bit...unusual.

Mentally it feels that way but statistically it's fairly easy across sports. But for women's hoops I bet it's even much higher. Hopefully we can validate those stats.

Spiders looking rough...5 turnovers so far and 0-for-4 from deep. Only down 10–6 though, so it could be worse.

Welp, 17–12 through one after to back-to-back threes from Ullstrom cut it to three, but then Ziegler gets fouled with 0.3 left and sinks both to push it back to five.

Spiders claw in front, 22–21. Doogan with some foul trouble, but Ullstrom picking up the slack. Sweeney and Jimenez also each contributing a nice triple. If we can hang in there with Doogan and Budnik combining for two points so far, I like our chances in the second half.

Really nice halftime piece on Budnik including sound bites from a number of opposing coaches. Plus Roussell and Doogan singing her praises.

Weird, they just put up a graphic showing Spiders have won 17 straight and Hawks have won 7 of past 8. St. Joe's has actually lost 4 of their past 6.

Budnik with 10 points in the third, but the Hawks are continuing to shut down Doogan. 40–37 Spiders through three quarters.

Ugh, felt like we were getting some momentum and pushed the lead to five, but the Hawks came right back. All tied up at 42.

Sadly, my premonition 1-2 weeks ago that we were due a loss was correct. Hard to beat a good team like Saint Joe’s 3 times in a season. Such a tough way to lose but man am I so incredibly proud of this team and all they’ve accomplished these past 2 years. We still have a lot of basketball left and my gut is telling me, this team can make a sweet 16 plus kind of run. Always and forever, go spiders!

Absolute nightmare here from the refs, shouldn’t have put ourselves in that position but someone needs to check their pockets.

The St Joes player who made that shot dragged her pivot foot at least 3 feet and our players saw it immediately and signaled for the travel.

Also don’t get me started on the foul calls on the blocks. They clearly wanted a 2 bid A-10

Nail biter...sju played really tough D...felt like we had zero rhythm all game...hopefully the committee acknowledges the full body of work

I had conflict & wasn't able to watch...but isn't that what ppl always joke about A10 mens tourney. A10 certainly wanted 2 bids. But i get why. tho we did benefit from a call yesterday. idk if any of that seeps into A10 reffing today or not but i won't dismiss it.

Would love to hear an explanation of the end of game situation. How the hell does the lead tef make the no-good signal like that? I know it’s not because he had a brain fart. That was a complete joke.

again statitistically it would not be considered hard from everything I've seen. it was harder to beat Joes the 2nd time at Joes. it would have been harder to me beat the Goo Moos just for the 2nd time tomorrow. the 3 times in 24 days probably didn't help idk. there's a feeling it's hard yeah but statistically doesn't turn out that way, and in women's hoops I bet the 0-2 team winning the 3rd is evem smaller %. of course didn't turn out that way today.

premonition correct, but I still say I'm glad we didn't take loss near end of reg season. Because we r a lock. had we taken a loss earlier AND a loss here maybe u don't feel as good re: at large (I feel like we're still IN w that scenario tho not a lock). I know u feel like an earlier loss it would have increased our odds to win A10 tourney, & maybe it would have, but it's also more risky.

This loss isn't end of the world. we're in and for those who wanted a 10 or 11 seed, that's now possible. The 7 seed dream is gone.

Roussell and staff did everything they could do as far as scheduling is concerned and the Lady Spiders won a bunch of games and had a few heartbreaking losses like today. Should lead to an at-large bid, but I feel like nothing is guaranteed for a mid-major. Hopefully the ladies and staff get an invite to extend this successful year.

It will be interesting to see how many people come to the final game tomorrow. Looks like Mason will be there which is probably the best 3rd option for the A10 from the attendance standpoint.

Moving screen of significance on winning shot. Monkey off back now. Go win a couple at the dance.

good screen to me. but watching live I could see looking worse because Doogan went down.

Also fwiw I wouldn't call travel either. she can move that 2nd foot to go for shot. It looks like she's dragging but I think she actually gets it caught on top of Budnik's foot. harder to tell.

Ullstrom wanted the travel. She should have contested the shot instead. not sure she could have got there to make a difference but possible. gave up on play too early to call for travel.

got burned twice by the NBA timeout rule for women. Gtown game another. not going to nitpick this play too much because we're in, great season, and got a chance to win in NCAAs too, lot to play for.

I assume RollSpides is on here. So RollSpides listen to the Goodman daughter, those tweeter replies, and GK. We are 100%.

With George Mason in the final tomorrow I would’ve been even more nervous for us that game. If we had to lose, I’m glad that it’s not the final as that is always harder emotionally. Should be a fun one for the neutral observer. Agree, that we’re safely in the NCAA tournament. If there’s other positives is that the A10 WBB will be at least a 2 and long shot 3 bid conference this year, which is always good for the reputation. Also, we were hovering as an 8/9 seed in many brackets and now more likely to be a 10 seed, where I think we will have a (relatively) better chance at making a sweet 16 run. Would love to be in the Raleigh region of the bracket with NC State as a 2 seed.

here's another view. Good play. Bumping into teammate throws off the timing and makes it look worse. Just a gather and shot to me from St Joes not a travel.

I agree with all of this 1000%.

I’m still proud of this team. The refs were cowards. They ran off the court super fast after making that trash call at the end. No explanation.

I was in line at the concession stand behind St. Joes coach after the game. She seems like a cool person. She said she’d like to order a beer but didn’t think it would look too good. I like this tourney because it’s not separated off or anything. Players out in the concourse after the game still in uniform talking to their parents. Coaches getting snacks at the concession stand. Parents out at the bar having a drink. It has the feel of a college level kids showcase.
