James Madison: New head coach Mike Houston has a five-year deal worth a base salary of $300,000 annually. per Rivals. Houston would owe JMU $350,000 if he leaves before January 31, 2018, followed by a $250,000 buyout on the same date in 2019, and $150,000 in 2020. Retention bonuses include $75,000 if he’s still with the program after three seasons, $93,750 after four seasons, and $81,250 after five seasons.

Football Scoop reporting JMU coach Withers will be next head of Texas State. I was hoping he would remain in Harrisonburg, but looks like he is gone. Ha, Texas State.

Texas State is where Kathy Ireland kicked field goals in "Necessary Roughness" a few years ago. Armadillos I believe.

while I really enjoy seeing their fans confused and frustrated by which football direction they may go, I hope they stay FCS-CAA with the Spiders...

I really enjoy having a "bitter" rival in the state...I consider the Indians our historic and traditional rival...somebody like the Dukes, a huge "johnny come lately" state university and usually arrogant about it, gets our fans riled up a little...they're a rival that gives us a chance to blow up things like the "most important day in JMU history." the ESPN Game Day circus...
