He had 86 is Freshman year. To break the all time record he needs to average 100 steals his last 3 years. 2/3 of the way through his sophomore year he has 68 and is tied for the lead in the country with 3.2 per game. We have 8 regular season games left and at least one in the A10 tournament. Based on his current steals per game he is expected to get another 29 and if we win at least one game in the A 10 tournament a 100 steals for the season.
He has a long way to go and a lot can happen between now and then, but I don’t think he has peaked yet. If he does not break the all time record and stays healthy he has a very good change of finishing in the top 5 all time, which would require him to average 89 steals his last 3 years. Here is a list of the top 10 all time steal leaders:
John Linehan Providence 385
Eric Murdock Providence 376
Brianté Weber VCU 374
Pepe Sánchez Temple 365
Cookie Belcher Nebraska 353
Kevin Braswell Georgetown 349
Bonzi Wells Ball State 347
Obie Trotter Alabama A&M 346
Gerald Walker San Francisco 344
Johnny Rhodes Maryland 344
