Kind words anyone? You have to feel some remorse over W&M's loss to the Spiders. NOT. A victory over the tribelets defines our season, which is now as success.

always want to beat your rival, particularly when it has playoff implications. they were beat up pretty badly but all teams are pretty banged up this time of the year. always enter the off season with a smile if we whip the indians....

Their coach is in a class act all by himself. He gets all my respect.

Simply beating W&M makes the season a success. UR has dominated the series recently, winning 8 of last 10. Keeping them out of the playoffs is priceless.

I don't think Coach Rocco feels any sympathy. That's 3 and 0 against Laycock and the Indians with two away victories at the Reservation. Certainly helps with recruiting and allows Spider fans to have bragging rights for another year.

I do not feel bad for W&M. They are a rival and recruit the same players. I like winning the Oldest rivalry in the South and keeping the Capital Cup in the Robins Center where it belongs!

I respect the Indians but I don't believe they feel sorry for us so I don't feel sorry for them.

We now trail by 3 in the all time series.

MO, did you do the basketball/football double header yesterday or were you just lucky to be visiting the reservation last evening?

Tipoff Club in the RC at Noon. Spider win over High Point. Grab the cooler, Gas up at Wawa, in The Burg at 430 shucking Oysters with the Peanut gang, whip the Indians and have a couple pitchers at Paul's Deli postgame.

What a Saturday.

That is exactly what they were thinking when they came up with the tag line "it's a great time to be a Spider". Great day all around.

MO has my vote as board MVP based on yesterday's performance. I only made it to the RC. I love to beat the Tribe, and appreciate the rivalry, but just can't bring myself to hate them. Probably because Laycock is such a class act. Now JMU on the other hand.......

Tough to hate them. Class school. Good rival. Now JMU, there's a school I can hate.

Reading the board last week and seeing the comments by a few calling the team and the season a failure, wonder how those posters feel now?

I felt the team played well most of the year., except for Maine. Otherwise there is a lot to be proud of in my opinion. 8-4 and possibly the playoffs is not too bad.

I saw lots of Spiders who 'did the double' yesterday. Cold night in the Burg. I suspect alot of people are dragging like I am today.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. I think it was the first time I'd been to basketball and football on the same day, but I could be wrong. Well worth it though!

One Putt, I'm super happy for Hunter and all the seniors. It was really sad thinking that they might go their entire college career never having played in the playoffs. Now, let's go on a roll!

Respect yes, sorry no. I doubt they would shed a tear for us. But let's go out and show W&M and the committee the right choice was made, even better show the committee they made the wrong choice leaving W&M out in the "first 4 out"

With you on that Fan1. Had family members including my mother - now 93 - who went to William and Mary and my college decision was between Spiderland and Williamsburg - but made the right choice and was, am, and always will be a Spider. Do think they are a class act and admire Laycock. However Rocco and Spiders hold the trophy for the third straight year!

From that area and attended many Indian games growing up had student teachers from there, used the library in HS, hung out at the Leafe when of age, and have some of my closest friends wearing the two feathers. That being said, iit's always a fun time but is sweeter with the win. We went through the quite a dry spell in the 80s and 90s and am enjoying the equalizing run now.

As a parent of both Spider and Tribe graduates, I have a fondness for William & Mary, that I don't share with any other Spider opponents. It's a beautiful school, and I've been impressed with everyone I've met, associated with the school. But I am glad, we prevailed. I'd just have preferred to have beaten JMU.

Honestly, I think I would prefer playing them down there every year. I like the quick trip and the atmosphere for a football game. Doesn't hurt that we have done well there recently, after a ridiculously long stretch of ineptness there. But I enjoy the rivalry and have never felt animosity toward W&M the way I do with other schools whose named I Just can't bring Myself to Utter, or whose Vastly overrated opinions of themselves Cause me Unspeakable disdain for them.

Correct. Respect for W&M and strong dislike (to put it nicely) for Jmu. Sorry Mom.

I almost do feel a little sorry for W&M. Twice in a row we have eliminated them from playoffs. Especially last year when we weren't playing for a playoff spot, just for the pride of beating them.

Are you crazy? I have no remorse for W&M football. A win over W&M, especially at the end, makes our season successful. There are too many times that W&M has spoiled our post season chances.
My neighbor, a W&M alum who played for Laycock (sp?), always tells me that he never really considered UR a tough opponent. I can once again console him over what could have been...

know some of us were not present during the beat down of the 80s, that was just uncalled for and painful. if you sat through that, you have to want to beat the indians no matter the situation and as A an the Admiral stated, if from that area, makes it even sweeter. still love the school but could never really feel sorry for them, even a tad.

I am 100 percent with Webspinner. From 1985-1997 they won 12 out of 13 and I sat through everyone of them. I do not feel sorry for them at all.
