What next

There's a solid RB at W&M who has gotten some starts as a true freshman and won one CAA RotW award this year. Part that stings is that he was originally a verbal to us.

Nate Evans RB out of Richmond flipped in Dec/Jan to Tribe. He will be a star.He has started the last 5 games. He is the Tribe leading rusher and third highest receiver.

AJ Hines RB of Duquesne was 1 point short on his ACT.Admissions rescinded acceptance.Top FCS frosh in 2016.Ran for 1,300 yards and 13 TDs in 2016.

Nate Evans is listed at 5'10" 190.

Hines looks to be having another really good season.

I hate seeing solid recruits flip or be denied admission by a point as mush as the next guy. But it isn't like we don't have any talent in the backfield. Our committee of young RBs combined for over 1500 yds rushing and 12 tds last year. The issue isn't our RBs, its about an offensive line that is struggling to lead a running game. Pass protection has been solid, but they are really struggling to move the opponent out of the hole and down the field.

After the year Collins, Goodall, and Thompson had in 2016 (plus Rocco leaving), it was highly unlikely we were keeping Evans. Come to UR and sit behind 3 high level RBs for 2-3 or go to W&M and start from day 1. Pretty easy decision once a coach leaves.

Didn’t Evans flip before Rocco left?

Either way - I’m less concerned with running backs. We needed more big boys on both lines. The lack of offensive line recruits is shocking as that is stereotypically an easy position to recruit at UR.

he's from our town, the word about town is he wanted to be able to play right away

Both of our lines won the battle in the trenches against the last FBS team we played. The disparity from then to now is stunning.
