Vandy game

I was at the game and didn't read anything about it afterwards until I saw this from the Nashville paper just now:

"It was a crazy finish that had to be sorted out on video review. The game was tied at 92 when Richmond stole the ball from Lee and pushed it ahead to Andre Gustavson, who missed a dunk at the buzzer.

It appeared the game was headed to a second overtime. But upon further review, a foul was called on Scotty Pippen Jr. on the missed dunk with 0.6 second remaining."

What? Was this guy drunk? This is not what they were reviewing, right? Someone tell me if I'm wrong, but it should have been obvious to everyone that he was fouled. The review was just to get the time on the clock right, I thought.

You are correct Eight. They were reviewing the amount of time on the clock. The foul call was made immediately and the officials did not huddle to discuss whether or not it was a foul. But the ESPN report after the game said similar to what you just posted about a foul eventually being called after the officials met. This is incorrect and what you believe happened was correct

Yeah, I was unfair to Grant in another thread, forgetting his injury. But man, it was brutal to have him in there on defense down the stretch. He didn't put his arms up or jump as guys drove right at him to the basket. He couldn't even move to go claim that loose ball right in front of him late in the game that just bounced out of bounds and was a turnover. Goose should have been in there earlier for him.

Was the one Francis tried to pass him off the screen? Then the ball went out of bounds across the court? If so I thought that was on Francis. He made that pass quickly and blindly. Think he may have even passed it behind his back. Now if Golden is healthy he may get it but I didn't think it was time to do that kind of risky pass to a hobbled Golden who I don't think was expecting it either. The kind of pass Francis did will work plenty of times, you gotta be quick on those pick and rolls normally, maybe save it for another spot tho.

I thought Blake made the right read there. Grant should have cut based on the defense. but the injury certainly could have played a factor.

agree it was good read. which is why I want him still doing it. Just felt too risky at time given Grant condition. Grant hadn't been looking to score either for a while I don't think he wanted ball. & Blake may not have gone behind the back anyway. if he did, he still pulled it off! Another time Grant is ready and cutting.

Defense will be the problem this season. We let two mediocre teams score 90+ on us.

I sit near the basket. The whistle blew before the horn sounded. No question that a foul was called.
