UVA

1.2% Gill budget.Full cost of ACL's and/or concussions can eat that up pronto given 85 v 63.Depth for next 10 games takes hit.
Oh well.Onward to victory.

I agree with the general premise of your feeling about the game but i do think the payout is closer to $400k now and in terms of the actual revenue that the AD earns each year, it's probably more like 4-5%. It's not an inconsequential number.

It represents roughly the same amount of revenue we earn from half our season ticket sales.

when you are running a minus financial entity, you take all the revenue you can get. when umwcah gets the invite to the big 12 then we can go up to the little aluminum chicken cage and take them for $750 or something. actually if the american gets raided big time, the pukes might find a home there but all the good teams will be gone and a meger with the caa might be their best deal.

Anyone received their UVA tickets from UR ticket office yet? Just wondering.

A few takeaways:
  • Malcolm Cook, OLB, reportedly had a nice camp and was expected to start. He had a medical issue and will not be playing.
  • Their long-snapper is also one of their starting MLB. I'd go right at him after every punt.
  • We have a significant experience advantage.

The guys at CavsCorner.com just put up a preview article, highlighting some of our players to their readers.

Something they didn't mention, but will be a big focus for me is going to be the play of our O-line. Our line has the potential to be VERY good and they have pretty limited depth. UVa has some big bodies on the D-line. If we have to double up to move bodies, their LB's will run free. While our RB's are inexperienced, there is talent back there. If our line is able to make some holes, our RB's will find the daylight. If we can't establish the running game, UVa can focus that much more on Brown, which could result in a long day.

Weekly PDF of game notes coming out today? I thought it was Tuesday mornings, but haven't seen anything yet....especially a depth chart.

Agreed the lines are everything, including injuries to QB and others. How much will we be out weighed on the lines?

Vergos is the only one I'm worries about, as he's battling a 300 pounder. Our O-line is roughly the same size as theirs, so our D should be used to the weight, but their line has height that ours doesn't quite have, so they'll have greater reach than our guys battle on a daily basis. Nothing significant though.

I remember a UR D line that was out weighed an average of 30 pounds a man against
WVU and our quickness won the game.

Vergos will be fine. Right Tackle is the problem area.

Let's be honest, we're not going to be able to run the ball on obvious running downs. We never have against (non Duke) BCS teams. We need to keep Kyle upright and keep them off balance.

I think our Front 7 will be ok on the other side of the ball. My concern on D is how some of our less experienced players in the secondary hold up. Mainsah, Keels, Coniker, Mack.

You are worried about our 3-year starter All-CAA center? I agree with Mo, right tackle is a major question mark. Hopefully we have improved dramatically in that area since the ND State game.

Vergos is the most fundamental guy on the O-line. If anything, he plays better against bigger guys because he can out-leverage them. Height/weight isn't everything.

RT is the area of concern, especially pass blocking off the edge.

I'm confident in Nick's ability to hold his own after competing against former Spiders Evan Kelly, Kerry Wynn and Adam Farley.

I'm more interested in seeing Patrick Kliebert and how his body of work will translate in this big game.

Interesting to see Nick Velardo listed on both offense and defense. Is that a mistake? If not, really impressive. I cannot remember the last time we had someone go both ways.

Nothing jumps out in a huge way for me.

He's dynamic but I'd love to see us get David Jones out of punt return business. He's so valuable on D. And Wilkins would be great at PR.
Very glad to hear Jones is not returning punts anymore.

My rationale was thinking we would slide Evans to support, leaving C one on one. Obviously Nick is one hell of a player and my comment should not be taken as a slight against him at all. You simply don't see a huge number off 3-4 fronts and as I said, I expect us to have Nick play the DT straight up.

Last 3-4 I can remember us facing was VU.

Who's kicking? I'm hearing rumors that a linebacker may be handling kickoffs.

This is troubling. This is not a good year for us to have kicking issues

I believe that we're going to have Klibert try out kickoffs as well as playing him at RT. Can't imagine Bronco has prepped for that scenario...

why go for 2 every time after a TD. I still believe over time that's a more consistent option, at least since '98.
