Tyler Kropp - 2025 Offer

Kropp picked up a Vermont offer last month. He's played for the Argentina National U-18 and U-17 teams in the FIBA cups this summer and is putting up great numbers.

Mentioned this guy earlier today over in the thread about Gipe doing international activity since Kropp was lighting it up in Istanbul with Gipe there. Picked up a Belmont offer today along with Illinois Chicago and Cal Poly offers in recent days.

Hope he recognizes we sent Gipe to Europe to watch him play.

Kropp has added offers from Harvard, Davidson, and Charleston over the past couple of weeks.

Do we have a scholarship open for him now?

Last year of eligibility with scholarship: Artis, Nescovic, Hunt, Roche

Incoming: Harper, Richardson, Argabright. Plus isn’t Graham on a 2 years walk on & 2 years scholarship deal? Next year would be his Junior year.

Every year there seems to be someone who will transfer, but we don’t give out more scholarships than we have space available. We wait to see what opens up and then offer accordingly.

If the limit change goes through, then Graham counts against the 15 whether he's on schollie or not. Same with Kirby. So that would leave one spot available for Kropp or someone else.

not sure where that rumor came from but I still don't really believe it.
I think that would break some kind of ncaa rule to promise a kid 2 years. that's basically giving a partial scholaship which isn't allowed.
and I certainly hope we wouldn't tie ourselves to a scholarship like that.

I hope it was more like "you'll be a walkon with a chance to earn a scholarship after your sophomore year depending on your role at the time".

So walkons count? That seems odd. Right now we have 17 guys on the roster. So we would have had to get under that in future years?

Yes, as proposed/reported. It’s a roster cap. U can still have walk ons but Richmond would use the full 15 ships. My feeling is that current walk ons will be grandfathered in and can stay on for 4 years. So guys like Kirby mooney safe. Can’t see them kicking existing guys off. Obv would affect future walk ons tho. Only a guess not sure if that has been discussed. Plus ncaa presents hard/firm rules but there r often loopholes & exceptions.

Yes, the new limits are roster caps, not scholarship limits. So if the limit is 15, they can all have scholarships, but then no walk-ons.

We currently have four walk-ons pushing our roster to 17, but D'Entremont and Weaver are done after this year. So Graham and Mooney would fill the extra two slots and could be scholarshipped if the university chooses, unless there are other provisions for grandfathering walk-ons above the cap of 15. No word on that yet.

Yeah I'm onboard too. A versatile big forward is needed. Let's get him. It leaves zip for transfers but in reality we know that's not true as we'll lose a few.

Really like his game and think he will be a great addition to our program. Very highly ranked too with a lot of excellent offers, several of which are from the A10. I hope we land him because he’s the kind of player at Davidson who will drop like 30 points going 6/7 from 3 or something like that against us!

It appears he's still taking a visit to Dayton this weekend.

Kinda hoped things were wrapping up for him with us in the thick of things, but the P4s are starting to circle. Academics are clearly important to him with us, Harvard, and Davidson on his visit schedule, so Northwestern could be an appealing option.

It appears Gipe was in Georgia today, not Ohio. I see he and 6'9" 2026 point forward Rho Omed from that school follow each other on Twitter.

Interesting , my source is usually reliable. i'll have to follow up.
