Two open spots

I think he meant Gonzo was a sixth man at Notre Dame Prep when we recruited him. So he flew a bit under the radar and we lucked out.

Why don't we, or why can't we, go after foreign recruits, especially some of the bigs that come out of Europe and the Balkan region? That seems to work great for Mark Few. And Davidson has gotten some quality bench players as well.

Coachfezz, I would love your opinion on this. I bet you even have connections overseas, you could be the school's scout and recruiter.

That is why I posted Davidson’s latest recruit in the recruiting thread. Not because I care who they have, but because I hope we are looking at the same type of players.

We certainly swim in the same pool as Davidson. We offered both Aldridge and Grady.

These two spots are important. I know we haven’t been good with grad transfers, but I’d much prefer a bad grad transfer to a reach on a 4 year commitment. Kid sitting for a year or 2 is better than 4-5 (obviously neither is preferable). With a good nucleus coming back, this is a make or break moment (again) for this staff to get it right and finish out a promising roster.

For both grad transfers and undergrad transfers, it is best to either get someone who has done extremely well at a lower program or who hasn’t had an oportunity at a higher program.

Not someone who hasn’t performed at a lower program.

I say we start a Physical Therapy program at UR this fall and get Bryce. :) Just trying to think out side the Boxout.

Ha, well other coaches seem to find and attract Europen talent from Europe and bring it into our league. Fordham has. GW has. Davidson has. We sign a Lithuanian kid from Florida at the last minute because no one else wanted the scholarship, redshirt him and probably will never see him score 10 points in a game for us. Frustrating.

I know, just messing with you. Jack Salt has been a nice find for UVA. I think he is a Kiwi.

One of Phoenix’s high school teammates just decommitted from Ole Miss:

it'll be interesting to see if we get a nice addition this year. seems to be a good spring to have open ships.

Based on past springs, best not to get our hopes up for any meaningful addition to our roster with these 2 scholarships. Hopefully, he sends Rob Jones on a 2 month long recruiting trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Mooney gets on his horse and personally recruits these last 2 ships.
