Turning Point for the Stony Brook game:

Coaches are pointing to the second half kickoff return, but I actually noticed a big momentum switch early on in the game. While up 7-0 and moving the ball, we got stopped on a 3rd and 1 run up the middle, and then a 4th and 1 run up the middle. Then, the very next drive, we get stopped on a 3rd and 1 run up the middle, then punted. At that point, heir defense took charge, and their team fed off of that. I believe that after Collins went down, there were many that had doubts about the short yardage running game, I know I did. We need a Kendall Gaskins (which Hamlin filled nicely btw). Maybe it's time to make Broadus that guy, and start grooming Clise or Johnson.

Turning Point for the season:

Gotta be this game. Will the team get angry, hungry, and aggressive like the 2008 team did when they were 4-3??? Or will they totally come unglued, like the 2013 team that lost to Gardner Webb and Rhode Island? Was this a "stumping the toe" game or a "torn ACL" game? We will find out Saturday when a good Colgate team full of confidence comes to the Brickhouse.

We lost by 28 points to a team that had barely moved the ball this season; while being ranked #2 and favored to win by 11 points. If ever there was a WAKE UP CALL GAME, this was it.

I predicted that we would have an 8-3 regular season and had us at 2-1 at this point in the season. I predicted a UVa loss and a win at SB, but we are still 2-1 and I believe that 8-3 and the playoffs are still very realistic expectations.
While I totally agree with 32's analysis, I feel that with this wake-up call, we can fix those problems. From today forward, we need to look at each game as though it is a playoff game.

We should be in good shape if we win the next 2. Both home games that I feel we should win. If we do that and take that momentum up to Albany, we could be back in a really good spot.

Hopefully come November we are in the playoffs and look back and laugh at how bad the team played against SBU.

What's the explanation for not running Broadus in those 3 short yardage situations? To me it seemed the perfect situations especially with the untested running trio???

I know we are missing Collins but our short yardage run blocking has to improve. I thought it was an issue a few years ago (We had a a lot of trouble on short yardage and goalline situations...even resorting to bringing in some defensive guys to help block a few seasons ago). This offense can be very explosive but you have to execute the little things like picking up a yard on 3rd and 1 to keep drives moving.

failing to make the short yardage plays early in the game certainly set the negative tone for the game, but believe it was the INT in the red zone just before the half that made me believe it just wasn't our day...

if I recall properly as badly as we had played at times in the first half we actually had momentum after a four down stop and were driving into the red zone for the tying score...then the INT...

tack on the runback for TD to open the second half and that's all she wrote...

we now know every team will study the Stoney Brook tape to find out how they dominated us...lets hope we can see it too and fix it quickly...

I think we can...I'm not giving up!

Our OLB's and Corners have to be much more stout.

Two picks in the end zone changed the complexion of the game. Throw in the kick off return and, most troubling to me, the total fade in the fourth quarter and you get a humbling blow out.

Well, the team's Check Engine Light came on last Saturday. I trust the coaches to diagnose and correct the problems quickly because Colgate is a very worthy opponent.
