I don't think I have seen such a difference in time of possession as we did in the second half against W&M and especially in the 4th quarter when we needed to possess. Jacobi could have cost us some serious field possession by not fielding a punt that rolled down to the twelve and was returnable.

The mixture of power running on first down and short passes kept the Tribe from using any of their 3 time outs. When you get
7-8 yards on first down it makes the defense think well let's wait till the next series to take a time out. But we kept getting those good first down carries that it made taking a timeout useless. Might have been best fourth quarter we have had in many games against a quality opponent.

obviously making only an educated guess, but it appeared from my vantage point that Jacobi received instructions when going onto the field not to field the punt...I base this on his body language and hand signals he gave back to the bench to clarify the instruction...

if so, it did seem strange, but I guess the surest way to avoid a turnover from a muff, or big hit...also indicates coaches had confidence our running game and offense could dig it out of there which they did..

Congrats to all...

Satchmo, if my memory is correct the previous punt he went backwards and caught one over his shoulder which would have gone into the end zone or he could fumbled and he did not get it to the 20. May be the staff wanted to take no chances.

Actually I think the punt went to the 6 yard line, but this was a lucky bounce and roll. This was part of the plan for Zero turnovers.

Probably he got chewed out a bit for the first one and got gun shy when he let the other one go. It didn't hurt us on Saturday, but those are decisions that can make a big difference to the outcome. Hopefully we will do better against Coastal Carolina with that.

I am jumping the gun, because we're going to win. I have faith. And now I want to know what our game time in Conway will be.
