The Trump Administration

This administration is a complete clown show and they haven't even taken over yet. A complete disaster awaits.

KE, it's often said that "you can't fix problems by throwing money at them." Funny how that never applies to the Department of Defense. Or if your car, or the foundation of your house needs fixing. Then "throwing money" at the problem fixes it pretty good.

This administration is a complete clown show and has been for 4 years they haven't even taken over yet. A complete disaster, foreign and domestic, for four long inept years. awaits.

Fixed it.

Actually, don't know how Trump will do, but would be difficult to top Biden Admin on ineptitude.

Serious question, who really has been running things the last 4 years?
Serious question, how could someone with an obvious debilitating level of dementia receive 14 million Dem primary votes?
Serious question, what were the Dems' thinking?

They handed the presidency to Trump by sticking with Biden well past the sell by date along with the lawfare partisan stunts, open borders, Afghanistan withdrawal, etc.

Time for serious soul searching on the Left.

It's already going to hell. Musk and the GOP muckity-mucks really hate the average MAGGAT.

MAGA wants to deport brown people so Americans get more low paying jobs while importing brown people to take the high paying jobs from Americans. Is that right? So confusing.
Believe the point is our country seeks the best talent available, for blue collar, agricultural or technical jobs, regardless of skin color, if the individual has been legally permitted to enter our country. Follows our founding principles much closer than DEI.

Is this considered controversial?

This really should be in the Biden Doctrine thread.
By the way, you left out the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, among others.

You mean those "founding principles" where women couldn't vote/own property/sign contracts/have credit; where Native Americans weren't even citizens and had their land stolen; where Blacks were only 3/5 of a person and had no rights at all; where people who didn't own property couldn't vote, where Sanators were appointed, where it was legal to own another human being? Those principles?

Businesses in this country have generally sought the cheapest labor, not the best talent. Hence the movement of the textile industry from New England to the South and then to overseas, as wages rose at each location.

Foreign tech workers on a work visa come at a much cheaper price than current citizens, and can be more easily discouraged from job-hopping.

You forget that some of us are old enough to remember what an actual "disastrous withdrawl" looks like. And which party was in power when it happened.

Please see again and consider "presentism". Posted before, perhaps did not take the time to watch.

Secondly, original intent was for the House to represent the citizens ("the Peoples House"): the Senate to represent the interests of the states (who created the Federal government, not vice versa). Senators before the 17th Amendment were elected by each state legislature, not appointed.

Everyone wants the best people to do the job. The problem with that is that when historically only certain types of people have had access to certain opportunities, other groups of people do not have that access and almost never can get it. Hence why we've had all white presidents, except for one.

Were all the smartest, most equipped-to-be-president citizens really always white men between 1776-2008? Was every potentially capable CEO a white man for 150 years? Was every nuclear physicist? We could go on and on.

And if you believe that was the case, I'm not sure what to tell you. If you don't believe that, it's worth considering why it was the case and what steps might be taken to change the playing field.

I personally do not love everything about DEI or its precursor, but I also understand the goal, which is to give more people the opportunities that historically have gone only to white men. As a white man, sure, it might mean that sometimes you or I get the short end of the stick when we might not deserve it. Congratulations: now we understand a tiny bit what people of color and women have been dealing with every day for centuries.

I don't recall any of us complaining when the hiring practices of this country were governed by *E* (exclusionary) policies for two centuries, but as soon as things change, half the country is up in arms. Seems hypocritical to me.

Ah yes, "presentism".

The rationalization of abhorrent behavior. When was it ever right to own or lynch another human being?

I am just curious, which historians will have a favorable view of Joe Biden? I was wondering, because it will be a very short list.
