The Trump Administration

Wood, once again, did not vote for Prez, only down ticket. Defend him, only, when warranted against a hate crazed mob which has totally lost reason apparently.

Your foreign policy calculus overlooks the totally botched and humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan and allowing Iran to get back into the oil export market which spawned Mid East turmoil and Ukraine That is on Biden. He owns those disastrous decisions and the hell that has been reaped from them.

Our adversaries watch not only what we say and do, but who delivers it and how. Can you describe a weaker visual of American power than Biden? Please, I'll wait.

Bumbling, confused, often incoherent, falling off bikes, stumbling up stairs, turning to shake hands when no one is there, frequently not knowing how to exit the stage (deeper meaning here too), his debate performance, sucking on a baby's foot and biting the leg of another at Halloween Party. Our adversaries have been on the march bc the World, friend and foe, can see no one has been at home in the US for a few years.

Some good as you point out, overwhelmingly bad, in toto a disaster.

And incredibly, got over 14 million primary votes for a shot at another term.
Yes, I can describe a weaker visual of American power, and its Trump. Why do you think Putin, Orban, and Kim Jung Un wanted Trump to win the election? Trump might walk better than Biden, but he can be manipulated and our adversaries, as well as our allies, know it. Trump said in Helsinki he believed Putin over the American intelligence community. Putin posts nude pictures of Melania on state run Russian TV and Trump has no response at all because he's scared to death of Putin for some reason or reasons. Trump says he and Kim Jun Un "fell in love" and wrote each other beautiful "love letters". Trump has called Putin's invasion of Ukraine brilliant. Trump did not shore up alliances with NATO members and in the Pacific when he was President.

And you keep referring to the Afghan withdrawal. Trump's withdrawal from Syria was not good (although no American lives were lost), and unlike the Afghanistan withdrawal, none of our Syrian human assets were saved. Trump ordered an immediate evacuation of Afghanistan after he lost the Presidency and it was only his generals who prevented it by refusing to follow his order. Our adversaries know this, and know that now Trump won't have anyone around to tell him no, so they are thrilled that Trump is back.

Ask the US intelligence community what they think. This is an F you to the intelligence community and the American people, but you and Putin are thrilled. Trump could care less about the intelligence community.

Per Abigail Spanberger:

“Not only is [Gabbard] ill-prepared and unqualified, but she traffics in conspiracy theories and cozies up to dictators like Bashar-al Assad and Vladimir Putin,”

Trump played the bi-partisan game the first time around, it only caused him endless fights with the deep state, a 3-year investigation of Russia collusion, 2 impeachments, extended attacks of lawfare after he left office, and millions of dollars.

This best explains Trump's pick of Gaetz:

"Gaetz is a loyal, longtime adviser, an acid-tongued debate champ, and—perhaps most important to the oft-investigated former and future president—an aggrieved target of the feds. Gaetz was the subject of a federal sex-crime probe that he survived and labeled a Deep State fix.

As Trump began formulating the type of individual he wanted atop the DOJ, he was drawn to those attributes and to the idea that Gaetz would help him investigate the investigators.

“The hunters have become the hunted,” a Gaetz confidant said.

In fact, I predict that Trump will prosecute the prosecutors and their enablers- Jack Smith, Fani Willis, Alvin Bragg, Letitia James and Juan Marchan, to name a few, will be investigated, probed and prosecuted. These are the rogue abusers of lawfare, who trafficked in lies and received benefits paid to them or their families.

You are a rogue abuser of the truth, please tell us the lies they trafficked in and what benefits were paid to them or their families. You'll probably come up with some far right fiction article with no supporting actual facts.
I do agree with your prediction though, Captain Obvious.

The Ethic Committee report on Gaetz is going to be released to ensure complete transparency. The American public has a right to know the truth about this guy.

Does anyone seriously think ANY foreign intelligence service will share info with a US intelligence service led by idiots like Noem and Gabbert? Do you think the Mossad wants info it has gathered being stored in one of Trump's bathrooms, or being shared at parties?

Maybe the Russians, North Korea and Hungary, Trump's buddies.

With you on your first paragraph, but we diverge after that.

Was it not the Biden Admin that leaked the planned Israeli retaliatory targets in Iran? An enormous breach of trust against a US ally. Be hard to top that one.

RFK, Jr. as director of the HHS is an actual public health crisis. He's on video saying that he would stop funding research about infectious diseases for eight years. He doesn't believe in vaccines, so welcome back measles and polio! This is a role that should require someone with a public health background, not some clown whose decisions could kill thousands of people and send us backwards in time.

Would you please refer me to the sources you found re the administration being the culprit of the leak vs a rogue employee? To date, I have seen one arrest and nothing beyond a single actor. Admittedly, the investigation is ongoing so it could go deeper.

Wiz, can't quibble with your response.

Did not mean to imply the Admin approved the leak, only that it happened on their watch, therefore they hold some level of responsibility. Was it a vetting problem? Seems to be a recurring problem with Biden Admin, see Laken Riley, et al . Sloppy to no vetting.

Circling back to a comment I believe you made about being a deficit hawk. We are in sync there, Country is committing financial suicide. Unsustainable. No one seems to be willing to address it. The longer we wait, the more the distasteful the medicine.

BTW I agree the deficit is out of hand, we are spending our children's money. When we lose our financial power we will likely lose our world influence.

Trump himself was the biggest leaker during his own prior administration. Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian officials in an Oval Office meeting with them, forcing the CIA to extract a key Moscow source developed over years. On two occasions, Trump revealed classified information on his Twitter feed. In 2017, he revealed a CIA program in Syria, and in August 2019, he posted a classified satellite photo of a site in Iran that revealed U.S. satellite surveillance. In a 2017 phone call, Trump told the Philippines President that the US had positioned 2 nuclear submarines off the coast of North Korea. Only the captains and crews of nuclear submarines are supposed to even know where they are located, but that didn't stop Trump. He likes to be the bigshot but he can't help himself because he has no concept of national security. He was the rogue leaker during his own administration but claims he hates leakers.

I have been suspicious as to why he was so desperate to hang onto the classified documents. Was he selling secrets? He'll sell most anything.

Speaking of vetting, Mike Johnson doesn't want anyone to see the ethics report of Trump's pick for attorney general, his pick for defense secretary was accused of sexual assault, and his choice for HHS cuts the heads off whales and dumps them in NYC parks.

IIRC some he was not aware of, some he thought personal, most out of date and no longer as sensitive. But mainly he coopeted and returned all docs, Trump's main error.

I am all over the deficit. I fear it will not be addressed until too late as it will take very unpopular choices. I have said before Republicans cut taxes and still spend. Democrats raise taxes and spend more. Once enacted, reversing tax cuts are almost impossible. It is the same for spending on new programs. Each party has its own form of bread and circuses. Unless Social Security, Medicare and Defense are on the table, it will be difficult to achieve meaningful cuts. Even if that occurs, tax increase are likely. In order to get our house in order, everyone's ox needs goring.

Hope so. Bureaucracy is bloated. Way overdue.

Would add those with incomes over 400k could easily afford to pay more.

The depth of the deficit problem requires subtractions and additions. Tough medicine, but will only get worse if untreated.

The guy is an expert at merchandising. You need a pair of Trump shoes, a Trump watch, a Trump hat, and a Trumpy Bear for Christmas. Imagine your surprise on Christmas morning.

Most Republicans in the Senate think the choices of Gaetz, Gabbert and Kennedy for the positions Trump has nominated them for are ridiculous. It will be interesting to see if they bend to Trump's will. That bastion of integrity, Steve Bannon, has already threatened any Republican who doesn't fall in line with being primaried at their next election cycle.

Gaetz is a poor choice, but he will clean house at DOJ. This one is Trump trolling the opposition at its best.
Gabbert is a poor choice (maybe), unless she takes her job seriously.
Kennedy maybe an OK choice, if he cleans up our food. One could certainly object to the obsessive shaming and firings over COVID Vaxes and school shutdowns. Most of the American public is sick of the politicization of science- follow the science.
Hegseth is a poor choice, although he may be a good leader. The leadership in the Army is more interested in forcing woke policies on the rank and file than in fighting wars.

There have been a lot of thoughtful opinions about the unsuitability of these four.

People die in wars. People are maimed in wars. Lives are ruined by wars.

One thing the leaders of our armed forces should be interested in is finding ways not to fight wars, instead of seeking out bad ones (Vietnam, Iraq) every generation or so.

Vaccines save lives. Vaccines eradicate diseases. fluoridated water systems help reduce tooth decay and cavities. Vaccines are good things. By all means let's have a top government official working against the use of vaccines and fluoridated water.

This cabinet would be a very bad joke, if it wasn't real and if it didn't endanger the lives of US citizens.

I agree with much of what you said, except for your hyperbole. I disagree. On the international stage, failure to lead and appeasement cost more lives. Millions have already died in Ukraine, millions died from COVID, there were deaths from the withdrawal from Afghanistan, more deaths occurred in Gaza.

The difference is that Joe Biden would not course correct. Trump can crush Russia, Iran and he can dent China, by pumping more oil, sanctions enforcement and tariffs.

The world is a much more dangerous place since Trump was last in office.
Jack Keane notes that Putin is now a war president, overseeing a fully mobilized national economy. Russia is committed to taking Ukraine. He said this is not a negotiation between a union and a business.

In this interview, Jack talks about how the appeasement policy towards Iran did not work. He also pointed out the the Trump team has not received classified briefings.
