Teams to root against

Chatty wins. Double benefit for us with ETSU...theoretically makes it an easier path to the auto bid for them, but also ensures a Q3 loss for them if they don't win it all. Either Western Carolina in the semis tomorrow or Wofford/Chatty in the final.

So let it be written; so let it be done.

Xavier with a very shaky resume. Only 3-10 against Q1 with 7 Q2 wins, and when you break them down, it is not that impressive. They are 8-10 in the BE, and the only tourney teams they beat are Providence and Seton Hall. So, that makes them 2-10 against likely BE tourney teams. Geez, how can you not win 2 out of 12 of these games when you get half of them at home? OOC, they beat Cincy for their best OOC win, and lost to Florida and Wake.

Oregon needs to beat Stanford tonight. I'm not sure Stanford is as safe as some think they are. They have an OOC SOS over 200 and only have 4 road wins to go along with 4 Q1 wins, 3 Q2 wins, and a Q3 loss. We have an OOC SOS of 80 with 9 road wins, only 1 less Q 1/2 wins, and 4 less losses if Oregon beats them tonight.

Oregon winning would make Stanford and UCLA both look worse...

They're in!! No P6 school is out.

Your Sunday Guide: Last day of the regular season! Root against the team in bold, please. And if they are down big with time left to come back, let's not jinx it today, OK?
  • Michigan at Maryland - only so Wisconsin gets sole possession of first in the Big Ten.
  • Ohio St. at Michigan St. - same. Every little bit helps, right?
  • Iowa at Illinois - not sure about this one. Both are locks; Iowa 3 spots ahead of us in NET, Illinois right below. Illinois is at home, so they'd be more likely to drop. I'd like to have a bunch of "locks" below us in the NET, even if that doesn't really matter.
  • Memphis at Houston - Pop Memphis. This will also demote Cincinnati and Wichita State, a little.
  • Nebraska at Minnesota - I don't know, I just want Minnesota's NET to go down more. It bothers me.
  • Hampton at Winthrop - What the heck. Maybe Bob Black's dream of 6 OOC NCAA teams can come true.
  • Valpo vs Bradley - only matters if you're concerned about which team you want to play in the national championship game
  • Delaware vs Charleston - duh
  • Lipscomb at Liberty - you may be concerned about a bid-thief here. I'm not. Liberty is 27-4, though. So let's just have them win their championship.
  • WCU vs ETSU - Bid-Thief risk is higher in the SoCon. However, the path has been cleared. 2,3,& 4 seeds are all out.
  • Tulsa at Wichita St. - Probably the most important game of the day. A word of caution, though - Tulsa is still showing up in 39 brackets on the Matrix. I think most of those probably have Tulsa as the AAC auto-bid. They are also 76 in NET - it would be nice if they could bounce UCLA out of the top 75 (without messing with Davidson, please)
  • Elon vs William & Mary - just to irritate LongTimeLurker

not irritating me....you would think w/ the POY and another 7 footer they could finish better thn 3rd no? If they win 3 straight I will admit defeat.

I think 37 brackets including ESPN & CBS have Tulsa as a 12 and below the first four. 1 at 13, 1 at 11 (but a 12 at the source site and UR 42/Tulsa 48 on the S-Curve)
So as long as Today isn't the AAC Final, I'll take Tulsa...

I saw a tweet from Palm, when asked, if Tulsa doesnt get the auto bid, what r their chances of making the NIT and Palm replied... only if they share the reg season championship and get the auto to NIT.

so it seems Jerry has them way out.

Well if Radford isnt going to win may as well be the other Bsouth opponent we played do it. Hampton up early on Winthrop 22-7.

Yes Tulsa is taking up a spot in some brackets right now as AQ placeholder, so essentially 1 spot will come open. But plenty of bid steal league possibilities out there to take it right back.

Hampton lost. Bob Black's "At least half a dozen" dream will probably not come true.
We do not want Vanderbilt or Alabama to win the SEC tourney. Sorry, Bob.
Nor do we want BC to win the ACC.
Charleston's about to lose.

StFU has a good chance. Auburn and Wisconsin are in.
South Alabama is a 2 seed.
ODU, CSUN and McNeese - let's go! There's still hope!

Maybe we can include Randoph-Macon; they are in their NCAA Tourney.

They're not getting it done today, that's for sure.
I watched the first matchup and it was a great game. Certainly better than Pac-12 ball. :)
Marshall's late-game management isn't very good, though.

His half a dozen comment related to ncaa teams on ooc schedule from last year no? Either way it was wrong. Lunardi teams like Charleston & Radford I said would be down & they were. Wisco was definitely a surprise tho and big time win, I thought would be little down for them too. Tho that game was long set. Had nothing to w our later Lunardi scheduling strategery that Bob shilled for.

Yes, he was talking about last year; that was clearly wrong, so I was just running with it. Heck, you-know-who tried to spin it that he meant something else.

It's no big deal. Bob is fine. He's a pretty reasonable voice about the big picture. Last offseason had everyone scrambling. He screwed up.

We’re lucky to have Philly Bob but he needs the NCAA badly like us all he’s coming off a terrible season. My guess is he was a reference for Lunardi too but all that responsibility is much higher on the food chain than Bob.

Not much on tap tomorrow.

Gonzaga and BYU have their first games of the tourney after triple-byes to the semis. Root against San Francisco; we can't have them winning the WCC. Gonzaga, BYU and the Gaels are locks. Yep. Locks.

I'm sure some of the teams in action tomorrow night have played against bubble teams we're competing against, but the benefit of them losing is marginal at best. It almost all comes down to performance of the bubble teams themselves this week.

I'm going to root against North Dakota St. just because I'm sick of their football team.

I’m saying I’m certain he has a clause that’s says he’s under no obligation to promote any team he consults with. Doesn’t mean he can’t.

I do think he’s gone to the extreme to disregard us.
Then we should not have paid him horrible choice by our folks if they agreed to something like that

Whoops. Somehow the Southern Conference title game was not showing up on NCAA's Monday slate when I posted last night.

Obviously, we need to root against Wofford tonight. ETSU has a better resume than UNI. Go Buccaneers!

Also Don’t worry, I won’t clamor for Wofford to make the tourney when they lose :p
