Thought I’d just make this an official thread. I know some of the posts in the NET rankings and bracketology thread are about this, but i thought it would be good to have a consolidated place to put bubble games of interest for the day and scores. Maybe it will turn our luck around.

i know Texas won and that moved them up some but they beat OK and that should drop them some. Both teams are now still very much in danger. Neither are close to locks and if they lose one or a first round exit in tourney they could be out.

Your guide to tonight's games:
  • Go Hokies. I can't believe Clemson has played their way onto the bubble, but here we are. It has nothing to do with NET, so don't even go there. They are #72. However, they have beaten each of the Top 3 teams in the ACC and have reached the mythical .500 level. If they win their last two and make some noise in the ACC tourney, that's one more team to worry about.
  • Georgetown is done; I believe it. But they're like that last bubble in the wrap when you get a package that just won't pop. Creighton is the scissors. Go Jays.
  • Xavier at Providence - this one is tough, both teams are in most brackets, but you have to pick someone. Providence is ahead of Xavier in the Big East standings. However, Providence has the more vulnerable resume - they are only 17-12 overall, 1-3 in Quad 3 games and even have a Quad 4 loss to Long Beach. I think total body of work is more important than conference record. Go Musketeers.
  • Minnesota at Indiana. Don't think, don't blink. Go Gophers. I know, I know...."not a bad loss, NET waah waah." Quit yer whinging. It's still a loss. We need Indiana to lose, period. The "bad loss" ship has sailed. Minnesota has no path to enough victories to get in, short of a run to the B1G finals. Any bracketologist who puts Minnesota in with a win tonight should be relentlessly mocked
  • LSU at Arkansas - LSU has kinda backed their way toward the bubble, and it's un-American to not enjoy seeing Will Wade suffer. However, Arkansas is still somehow considered a bubble team. Kill the hog. Pork for dinner.
  • Florida at Georgia - meh. Root for Georgia if you want, but the Gators are pretty safe
  • Go Dayton. That is all.

Really worried about the Dayton at RI game. A lot of factors are point to a Rhodie win. Its pretty much a make or break game for them. Crowd will be in a frenzy. Senior night. All top teams have been dropping games...

Quoting my own post lol.

i guess I was wrong. The loss did nothing to OK’s status. Never a bad loss.

Rhody is a surprisingly small underdog.
If I lived somewhere that sports betting were legal, I might be tempted to make a tiny wager on the RI Rams - just enough to cover a bottle of Jack if Dayton loses.

I took that approach during the TX vs OK game last night. I would have gladly lost the small amount I bet but at least there was some monetary compensation for the disappointment as a Spider fan.

Sharp money is overwhelmingly on Dayton to win outright and very slightly in their favor to cover.

With the caveat that URI can absolutely win this game, they have looked horrible in their last two games. They're banged up -- Langevine and Dowtin are both less than 100%. If Dayton cares about winning this (honestly, they may or may not...it's all about postseason for them now), then they should win.

The two biggest games of the night are both taking place in the smallest state.

We're not off to a great start, which is fairly typical of the last two weeks.

If LSU gets blown out by Arkansas, they should be forced to give back their football championship.

I think they want the number 1 seed

That wet the wrogvwayfor us but what a game. That was an NCAA type game. Both teams played really well... not what ive seen from Big10 or Big12.

Yeah, I was one of the ones in here saying "Providence? No way." But they've rattled off 5 impressive wins in a row. Legit.

X is now 8-9 in the Big East. When you look at their wins, there's not a lot there. Ignore the quads, and look who they beat. They beat Seton Hall and Providence. Their other six Big East wins are against teams not making the tournament. They have a very shaky resume and should be on the bubble, and not safe.

Good Job, VT.

I mean, Virginia Tech.

ESPN had 35 bubble teams for 18 spots; they will definitely remove two (Clemson and Minnesota). Don't want to jinx Creighton yet.
LSU should start feeling a little uneasy. They haven't beaten a tourney team since January.
Arkansas is creeping up. I still think our body of work is better, but if you look at common opponents - they won at Alabama, they beat Vanderbilt by 20, and they took Auburn to OT (although at home). They can't even finish .500 in the SEC. But, they were 12-1 OOC with some wins against other bubble teams. You know who else had a losing conference record but went 12-1 in OOC? Oklahoma last year.

But they are a lock and no one ever seems to get off lock status no matter how many losses. Dont count on them going on the bubble.

And did you say “ignore the quads”? Do u think anyone is ignoring the Quads? The NCAA made that criteria numero uno.

Joe Burrow alone could beat this Arkansas team that is allegedly on the bubble but looks more fit for the CBI
Another game that just shows the supposedly good teams suck. LSU is a poor team but is a lock no matter what. Sad

Really want Fl St to beat ND. It seems any team that beats a high ranking team is suddenly on the bubble. Guarantee they are suddenly on the bubble if they win

Edit... Nevermind

Well that was entertaining.

Of course a guy named Mooney was the goat (small g) for Notre Dame.

I didn't think they were near the bubble, and their OOC SOS is above 300, so I felt like it would not matter if they won, but then I remembered we do not have a clue what the committee might do, so I was glad they lost. And, you are right. Had they won, they likely would have shown up on the bubble just like Clemson did the other night.

Tonight's Games:
  • Wichita State @ Memphis - Both are bubble teams, and the AAC is going to get multiple bids. So I guess we root for the team that's already inside the bubble? The Tigers' only shot is to beat both the Shockers and Houston, so let's just get rid of them already
  • Washington @ Arizona St. - Go Huskies. Anything's possible. The Sun Devils are safe but not from a total collapse
  • Stanford @ Oregon St. - Go Beavers
  • New Mexico vs Utah St. - Go Lobos. An early exit from the MWC tourney should seal the Aggies' fate.
  • Stetson vs. Liberty - Don't really think it matters. ASUN is a one-bid league. Root for Jerry's kids if you like

I might add one odd and lopsided game Oregon over Cal...
That sets them up to possibly burst two bubbles with one win in their final game...over Stanford if UCLA loses...

Umm....guys (and gals)?

Start rooting against Air Force. They lead San Diego State at halftime.
Sorry for not including them in my list this morning.

Somehow this will be Mooney's fault if AF wins. Just not sure how yet.
He has always been an elite coach in survive-and-advance situations. The lessons he imparted in his one year at the helm have stayed with the program for 16 years.
