Both have been playing great defense and with a lot of aggression and hustle. I also think both realize their limitations on offense and for the most part are playing supporting roles very well. I think they are valuable team members and we need their energy at the end of the games. The big problem is their free throw shooting, which is a HUGE liability during the second half. They have combined for under 45% (44-97) for the year, which is beyond awful. Can anything be done? Whoever lighted a fire under Ododa to turn his free throw shooting around from 42% as a freshman, 52% as a sophomore, to a staggering 81% this year; need to work with these two players.

Rick you are exactly right. The problem for opposing coaches is should they just let them shoot or foul them. Either way is a win win for opposing teams. Deion missed 2 three pointers, a dunk and 2 free throws last night. I would just play 5 on 3 defense against us and make them beat me. ANO and Terry have really improved their FT shooting. The other two kind of chuck it at the basket and hope it goes in. It's bad.

Not this year. Can they rework there FT technique in the offseason? Sure, but you think that would have been done in the past several off seasons. My hope for next year is that these two players are given roles that fit there skill set. TD would be great as a 6th man off the bench and DT would be great as a defensive specialist player. Minutes of course would need to be adjusted to fit those roles.

Mooney mentioned in the post game how strong Taylor was, maybe the strongest guy on the team and praised his defensive ability to guard both smaller and bigger guys. Unless someone steps up on D next year, I think we'll still see a large dose of DT. How about Clines four steals? Thought he couldn't play good D.

Please ignore any good defense by Cline . I like Cline interviews in post games. Very smart player. I think Coach Mooney likes the bench press too. I hope someone does not ruin Cline s shot in off season. I also think we have a good chance to win but if we are to continue to win we must have points from two players. We are also very happy that Cline came to school because it would be bad this year without his scoring and passing. So now DT should be guarding other pivots I think. SJ is doing very good things and I think Josh Jones will be also. He needs and needed more experience to show.

If basketball were judged on strength and ability to jump high Deion and Trey would be all A-10 players, alas the goal of the game is to put an orange ball through a hoop and there in lies the problem.

Based on what I am seeing lately, Shawndre Jones is going to be a an all-conference guard next year. He has really come on strong. He passes well, is not afraid to lead, he shoots well, drives well, handles the ball well and is only going to get better. We are set at point guard for the next two years. And BTW, he plays very good defense too.

Phidelt agreed. It seems he's getting more confident in his entire game, but his defense is definitely much inproved, he plays much taller than he height

SDJ's confidence is growing. Can see it in aggressiveness and more FT tries. Like that he's driving, as well as developing a good tear drop from various spots to add to the mid-range shot and 3 pointer. And he's always been more likely to find teammates with an assist. Only shows what can happen when a guy gets minutes in freshman and sophomore years and doesn't just warm the bench waiting.

Coach Fezz,

I'm glad you're back.

Sincerely,

SITMB (actually now SITPB)

P.S. Great post. Esp. re: bench press--think that could explain some of our poor shooting in recent years.

SDJ has been playing really well. I am excited to see what SDJ can do next year as our point guard. It is pretty plain to see that when he is running the point, we are generally playing well and able to push tempo. I understand the reasons why Kendall is our PG during large portions of the game, but I think this impacted SDJ's play the first part of the year.

What is most encouraging though is that SDJ's mid range game has reappeared. He showed us flashes last year and then it was gone during the first part of the season and now it has come back. I love his floater, which he can do from straight away and the baseline and he also has a good 10 foot little step back.

This is exactly what you want in a PG. A guy that is a threat to score from 3, from 2, and via the drive and FT line and than to top that off, he is also a good distributor of the ball.

Need to see more consistency from SDJ next year. He has some mental lapses and clearly is a streaky player. Right now, though he is playing some great ball.

":He has some mental lapses"
Yeah, I'll say so. considering what he posted to his own snapchat is enough for a five game suspension under any real basketball program's terms. What a fool.

Why don't you tell us all about how personal property theft is punished at "real" programs?

Number 2 did his time, for what actually happened, not that many would actually understand anything about it. They just drank full cups of what the media served them. The rest of the team paid the price b/c of his absence, too including but not limited to a tragic concussion for another layer because of him being gone. I know you could give a flying f, as you use other people's issues as rationale for your own team members juvenile delinquent behavior.

Why don't you entertain us & fill in the blanks beyond what the media served.

I was concerned at halftime vs. GW that if the game came down to free throws we might be in trouble. Luckily it didn't. Our first half free throw shooting was awful. Remember back to RI game - bad free throw shooting. I just hope we don't run into a game from here forward where our free throw execution burns us. That would seem like an area to work on during offseason & once they start having official practices next season. A free throw made versus missed can easily be a game breaker.

Hey Ram balls, point me to the law that says "Thou shalt not post a picture online flipping the bird to someone." I'll be waiting.

In the meantime, if you'd like, I could point you to the law that says "Stealing someone else's property is illegal."

A five-game suspension for giving the finger to a friend in a snapchat photo? LOL. That is good comedy right there.

Ok, so I understand things correctly. Weber stole an I-phone, but this is the media's fault for I guess doing their job and reporting the incident.

I guess your right if the media had not reported it, Shaka and company probably could have just brushed this whole stealing other people's property under the rug completely and Weber probably wouldn't have even been suspended for 1 whole game he was suspended.

And yes, actions have consequences, even when Shaka does his best to minimize them, Weber should have thought of those consequences before he stole the phone.

Since my thread got hijacked by a lamb troll, then I would like to point out that the school that prides itself on diversity, has not one white, Hispanic, or Asian player on either the men's OR the women's basketball team. Just an observation.
