Richmond is currently ranked last in D1 (#353) in offensive rebounding percentage, but ranked 5th in D1 in 2FG% (~61%). You would think having players who can efficiently score 2s would correlate with offensive rebounding.

The closer shots are the ones (in theory) we'd be in better position to rebound if we miss them. But since we aren't missing many, there are no rebounds to be had. When we shoot threes, we are probably spread all over the place and everyone is already darting back on defense. We are missing a lot of threes.

It’s really hard to be as bad as we are when you are that good at 2pt FG%. That’s a stat that generally correlates hghly to winning! But our D is just as awful as our offensive rebounding so we waste all that great offensive efficiency.

2011 can you post are overall defensive, offensive rating, as well as rebounding. I just want to see how bad we are.

Bitter Ulla? Not 97’s fault that our defense is horrible and this program is a dumpster fire....that one is on your boy Mooney.

It is half time for the Wake game, and we have shot 74% from 2 so far. Going into the game we were averaging ~61% and were ranked 3rd in the country. I think we might leave the game ranked 1st!

Did we finish the game with 3 turnovers? If so, that seems like it could be a record for the Mooney Era. Or maybe any era. Amazing. I don't expect it to happen again, but it was a big reason why we won tonight.

Mooney's teams tend to have very few turnovers, we have been in the top 50 lowest turnover percentage for 9 of the last 11 years (and top 11 in 3 of those years). Even so, 3 turnovers in a game may be a record.

Last time we had only 3 turnovers was Mooney’s A-10 Charlotte meltdown game we lost. According to Bob Black

We did it! After Gonzaga's loss today we are now #1 in the country in 2FG%. Still in last place for offensive rebounding percentage though.
Will Mooney get the ax or will he remain til the end of his contract, which I believe runs out in 2022.

We have a 100% Graduation Success Rate. That was the only statistic Hardt brought up in his most recent letter.
We may have to accept that it's the only important stat to this administration.

assume he is calling out whats going well....grad rate seems like the only thing worth calling out for bball.

I've forgotten how the graduation rate thing works, but shouldn't DWill have counted against it? Or did he go somewhere to finish his degree? Josh Jones would be another one I'd wonder about. He seemed to bounce around a bit after he was kicked out. Did he graduate? Do they have an extra year to graduate if they leave the program? Does transferring down to a lower division mean they aren't counted anymore in our numbers?

Dwill graduated on time from UR.

I couldn't find a quick confirmation, but my recollection is that if a player leaves in good standing he/she does not count against your graduation rate. Perhaps one of our other posters knows or can find something definite.

Josh Jones did not leave in good standing. Buck didn't either. How does that not count against us? Regardless, it seems like a pretty simple standard with lots of ways to get around it.

I believe it is strictly a question of progress towards graduation -- not discipline

What does a player need to do to be considered not making progress toward graduation? Become academically ineligible?

So transfers are included and count against the Graduation Success Rate if they leave in poor standing but are not counted against your rate if they leave in good standing: https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/research/gradrates/2018NCAARES_HowGradRatesCalculated.pdf

But in the federal graduation rate formula, all transfers count as non-grads. So I assume we are citing the GSR in our 100% numbers? But if someone transfers and does not graduate from somewhere within six years, by my understanding of this explanation, that player DOES count against the school's GSR.

Maybe we can expand this complexity into wins and losses. So if the team we may beat in 6 years but lose to this year doesn't count against our winning percentage? Of course this only applies if our program is in 'good standing'.

Yes, it's based on academic standing (progress toward degree). Transfers and/or dismissals do not penalize you.

You're a bit early with Jones & Buck, anyway. This report is based on our 2008-2011 "cohort." I somehow missed that tidbit in the fine print of Hardt's letter.

So, Hardt's one statement trumpeting the MBB program is for something that happened 8-10 years ago. My god, we are digging deep to find one nugget of good news to put in his AD update.

I can't wait for his next letter when he talks about going to 2 straights NCAA and a Sweet 16. I'm sure he can just put it the fine print that this really happened 2010-2011. I doubt anyone will notice.
