I see us at around 6-5 this year--too many unknowns with so many seniors graduating and a new QB. Plus it seems we're already pretty heavily banged up on the offensive line and TEs--which is not good heading into a date with Big Ten's Maryland. These games don't get players healthy.

@ Maryland (L)
@ Hampton (W)
VMI (W)
Maine (W)
Elon (W)
@ URI (W)
@ JMU (L)
Albany (W)
@ UNH (L)
@ Villanova (L)
W&M (L)

agree 90% I have us upsetting unh and hope a tough win over w&m. that would be 7-4 and a shot at playoffs. have been to 2 practices....not sure KL has the quick release, and he misses to many open receivers. would not surprise me at all to see DB in to aid the running game.

Hope I am wrong but agree with worries about O line injuries and QB. Think we could lose to Maine who returns many starters.

I'm not going game by game but this just feels like a 6-5 season. And that would be fine considering all we lost to graduation.

I think we go into the game with the Indians at 6-4 and they give us a little payback for the last few seasons.

I like the way this team is constructed but we're a shade too thin on the DL and I share the concerns about Kyle's accuracy. That said, we do need to remember that our frame of reference is the most accurate passer we've ever had in Strauss. I do really like Kyle's leadership ability and decision making. How good he plays is the difference between 5-6 and 8-3, imo.

I think with some luck.. helped by 2 things... 1. the defensive quickness and ability for Trott to use a number of specialized schemes and players.. 2. the ability of the running game to really punish some teams, elongate drive time and give us some advantages wearing down the other team at the end of game (this will also open up the pass game).. my prediction is 7-4 / 8-3...

assuming that our running game is anything like we hope. if an opponent, line up everyone in the box, make us throw it and see if we can. unless you have a super-duper o-line, have to have some balance to make them play you straight. the other thing is if our opponents are scoring 30 per game against us, not sure if we can keep up by just running. would love for us to be able to just run, use clock and score but until we can prove we can do that, not so sure. a winning season should be the goal unless some magic happens and, it could.

will take the "glass half full" view...would agree 7-4 and a chance at the Playoffs v. the Indians is probably a best case scenario...

the formula for 7-4; 2-1 in the out of conference games; 5-3 in the CAA with 2 of the CAA wins over Top 25 teams; and no more than one "bad" loss i.e. Elon or Rhode Island...

it would be great to go 4-0 at The Brick House, but if we slip to 3-1 at home it might mean having to win two on the road; doable, but very tough with the murderous road schedule in late October and November..

hoping for the best...Go Spiders!

Talked to Coach after the breakfast. His concern with the MD game was the physicality of the Big 10 teams overall. He felt out O line was a real strength, but not deep. Always fun to play these BCS teams, but as exemplified last year, key injuries can happen playing a BCS opponent which hurts us later in the FCS/CAA games. Hopefully, we are full strength by 9/05. Given our away schedule, 7-4 would be a fine season and likely position us for a play-off spot.

Honestly, our OL is as deep as it has ever been. We have 5 solid starters and at least 3 very serviceable backups. Many years, Young in particular and Klibert would be starters for UR. It's a bit tough for me to understand that we need more depth there with 65 scholarship roster constraints.

If we go 6-5 as first predicted we'll be sitting at home in the playoffs

I think 6-5 is about how far you get when the anesthesia set in. Will not help a CAA team get to the dance

Just playing with you Mo -- I don't really know what to expect from this team. I think if we stay fairly healthy we can make some noise if certain positions solidify. If not, well maybe not. Glad our expectations are not over the moon as have been in the past -- hope we can perform over the moon though.

After watching a couple practices, I see no concern at QB. Maybe a little bit with depth but I feel good times are ahead for KL.

Nova,UNH and JMU will rely exclusively on their QB's in 2015 for their team's success. If for any reason Robertson,Goldrich or Lee can't make it through their respective season, their team's lofty expectations would change in a hurry.

. How good he plays is the difference between 5-6 and 8-3, imo.

Kyle's performance will hinge on the O-line, as someone said above if we can run the ball and make them bring a safety down that will be key. I am much more optimistic on KL than I am the O-line. But agree Mo, if KL plays as advertised 7-4 or 8-3 isn't out of the picture

Having Marius Young and Jared Coker provides us some depth on the inside of the O-Line. If called upon, both could contribute. I think Jared's strength and athleticism will really impress people. Hopefully they can continue to learn and develop behind the older guys, but its nice to have such talented young players providing depth.

we are missing our fan who always thought we were going undefeated each of the past 4 or 5 years. a toast to those who's glass is always full but who's predictions always empty.

The key to our success on offense is the running game. It is important that we are able to run the ball to contol the clock and to give KL time to settle in as the starter. We cant expect KL to go out and win games soley on his arm like Strauss did last year especially at the beginning of the season. I have seen a few practices this summer. To me, KL is clearly the best QB we have on the team. I think he has the arm and although I have seen him miss on a throw or two, he is more accurate than DB and the two freshmen. I think KL is going to be a really good QB for us in the years to come. Its on the running game to make sure that we put him in the best possible down and distance to be successful throwing the ball.

7-4 is my prediction. Schedule sets up nicely in the beginning after UM so we can gain some momentum and confidence.

“I didn’t think that we looked like we’d been out here practicing for two-and-a-half weeks,” Rocco said after the scrimmage at Robins Stadium. “It wasn’t really consistent with what I’ve been watching here so far this summer. (Thursday’s) performance was subpar.” From RTD

Anyone want to change there predictions. I wish we have Hampton or VMI before the Twerps

Truthfully we probably aren't going to beat UMD no matter when we play them, so I like them as the first game. Get some guys some playing time before the real season kicks in

I agree. Just get it over with. If some guys get banged up, we have more time to rest them for the meat of the schedule.

My take

@ Maryland (L) closer than any of us expect 30-24
@ Hampton (W) again closer than expect 14-7
VMI (W) going with tradition a blowout 38-10
Maine (W) this game scares me most. First FCS challenge, we win 24-21
Elon (W) another crampy game we win 31-7
@ URI (W) they want to prove they belong again but we pull it out in the fourth quarter 24-20
@ JMU (L) too much Vad for my taste we lose 31-17
Albany (W) Spiders taking frustration of previous week out on these fellows 27-14
@ UNH (W) hey I am looking at this game as our season upset game 28-21
@ Villanova (L) place where we have not faired well 31-21
W&M (W) we clicking on all cylinders offensively 24-14

Playoff bound!

I like the way you think. Thanks for a good chuckle on the Elon cramping comment. I had forgotten about that.
