all week long the Spiders talked about having to be tough against the Billikens...and we were tough as nails until 14:55 remained...

at this point rebounds were roughly even...STLU was shooting around 40% from the field...they were 1-7 from the FT line...accordingly the Spiders were up by six...and then everything changed!

I had no inkling that the roof was about to fall in...knew St. Louis could win but didn't see the freight train heading for us...

St. Louis was the best opposing team I have seen at the Robins Center this season...they made everything tough for us from the very start...it seemed like they contested every shot and caused uncommon UR turnovers on numerous contested passes...

the only way we can overcome an inside power performance like St. Louis displayed tonight is to make threes...our 4-21 wasn't going to get it done...

did the Billikens do something special to stop Gilly?...obviously we need his points to win against good teams like St. Louis...

next week is a big road trip...neither team will be anything like STLU...

Go Spiders!

Dayton,StL,URI,VCU will each be in the top tier of A10.Our honeymoon is now over. Our lack of 2nd half physicality shown through tonight-glaringly so.GMU,Bonnies and Duquesne will not be pushovers either.
Buckle up.

St Louis is tough but if the team that beat Rhode Island had shown up, we would have won going away. This was a bad coaching job.

Nick, Tyler and Goose played well tonight. Grant, Gilyard and Wojick were no shows. We need all 10 of these guys ready to show up and play. The ball handling was atrocious.

Positive note: we did go 8-9 from free throw line.

Or college basketball. It happens. We weren't going 18-0 IC. Teams dont play great every night. We can still get to 13-5 with some good wins.

Agreed - we need to pump the brakes on this loss. St. Louis is a good team (don't forget they are 14-3 overall). While this would have been a good resume win on our home court - its not the end of the world. We will need to win a good road game to erase it, but we are capable of that.
This game was classic UR under Mooney the past few years. We had that dreaded 2nd half drought, and just couldn't come back from it. Normally - there would be some concern from this, but honestly - this is really the first time we have experienced this event this year. So as long as it doesn't happen again and again like it did in years past, we should be fine.
Other concern is Francis and his injury and playing at Davidson this week. Should be a game we win - but with an injured Francis, might make it interesting. That is a game on the road we can't lose now with this loss.

Nope, but you have to protect your home court, especially when you are coming off a bye week and have one of your best crowds all year.

Not to mention losing to a team who you might be battling for an at large bid. Bye bye tie breaker.
