spiders drop their sixth straight home game with another failure to finish...there have been two of these trademark losses this week...I'm too lazy to count how many losses this season have been decided in the last 3-4 minutes...but I believe we're heading for double digits...

these clips show some of the frustration of the final four minutes...I know there are a number of arm chair coaches out there...since our staff has not been able to come up with a solution...what would you do to help our guys finish a game?

Go Spiders!

Shorten the game to 35 minutes.

From a competitive perspective, someone needs to challenge the players manhood. The players need to get tired of losing, punch someone in the mouth (figuratively), and TAKE the victory. They must demand it from themselves if they are to break this malaise.

Attitude doesn't win every game, there has to be talent. But, these players are too comfortable with losing. I suspect that it comes from the "compete and get better" coaching philosophy.

Get a chip on your shoulder, show some heart, and refuse to lose. You won't get them all, but you won't lose them all either.

These are all reasons why you fire him now. We don't want the loser mentality to take over Gilyard, Golden and Cayo and damage them more for the next two years. End it now and there's hope. Let it fester for another six weeks and...ugh.

We had this same discussion with team with Allen, Davis, etc. This is what you get culturally in a program where all you talk about is competing and having energy. He sucks the toughness out of these kids with his passive way of playing and lack of toughness you get from conceding on the glass.

The players have to do it themselves since they don’t get it from the leadership. Who besides Gilyard looks like they have that in them?

This team is definitely missing what I call a “go to” guy as well as an emotional team leader. There seems to be lots of “why me” instead of “follow me”. Of course, most teams have senior leadership to draw upon, but the Spiders are years away from that point.

Of course, the organization tried to create a leader out of Buck and all he did was let everyone down. In retrospect, probably not the best plan.

IF the team had such a person, the team would have a better record, but still far from an A10 championship, which is the only way to guarantee a bid in the NCAAs especially in this year’s A10.

I think the school is looking for a win-win solution and unfortunately one hasn’t been found. The only one I can think of is a resignation at the end of this season with perhaps some sort of administrative role to finish out the contract. Odds of this happening - very low, but one can hope.
