Spiders vs. Wildcats

Grant's stat line is very odd tonight. He dominated early on offense and kept us in the game. But he had zero rebounds and only played 23 minutes? I don't remember him being on the bench that much although he was non-existent for most of the second half. Cayo, Nick, Burton, and Wojcik more than made up for it on the boards.

I don't know if you guys noticed this but Gilyard did something pretty cool at the end. The clock is running down but the shotclock will run down first and woj is dribbling the ball but gilyard comes over and takes the ball from him so that he will get the turnover and not woj
The statistician has discretion whether to charge a shot clock violation turnover to an individual player or the team, depending on whether they think a specific player was responsible for the violation. In this case, it was charged to the team and not Jacob.

Jacob obviously had no way of knowing for sure how it would be counted, so he still gets credit for the noble move.

I looked through Grant's game log, and there has only been one other game where he logged substantial minutes and didn't have a rebound. That was a 78-68 win against GW two years ago where he played 33 minutes and had 24 points, but no boards.

(He had two games his true freshman year with no boards, but he only played 3 and 4 minutes in those games.)

Great points made by everyone who said:
  • great halftime adjustments by Mooney
  • Mooney totally outcoached McKillop, since our team won
  • after we scored two unanswered baskets in the second half, "classic McKillop fade/chokejob"
Oh wait, sorry, that only goes in one direction.

McKillop doesn't know how to use timeouts. if he had just called a timeout after Sherod's first 3 pointer, he wouldn't have made the other 4.

I laugh at how many "why didn't Mooney call a time out" posts we see on here. And, it is so interesting that we never see them after our games like Davidson, when we are down 19-9 and go on a 10-0 run without calling timeout.

I don't understand the Kevin Bacon allusion. Would you please explain?

Earlier in the year, before we had actual games to talk about, every single solitary thread, no matter the topic, devolved into how bad a coach Chris Mooney was. So I likened it to the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon game, and started posting "Kevin Bacon" at the first anti-Mooney post.
