Spiders vs. Towson in game

Lots of time left, but Towson looks more physical so far. And special teams are killing us. We should have an advantage in passing but they look stronger rushing. Penalties are killing us.

They have absolutely no problem running against us.Holes are monstrous and tackling
isn't there. We need to get into their wide gaps with our own bodies.

32, have you exhausted your eligibility? OSC

Entertaining game. Defense was getting gashed in first half and first drive in the second half. But then they really stepped up and shut down Towson the rest of the way

great field goal fake; moving that quickly, although bringing in Broadus as holder was telling. Speaking of Broadus, we must be saving the Broadus throwing a pass for a really big, big, big play, until then this wildcat is a joke. Thank you for the off side, 4th and a half yard to go we weren't going to stop it. Three running plays to get a first down we really needed late to keep the ball out of Towson's hands, quiestionable? The defense stepped up late and saved a game. It's a win

As far as saving a Broadus pass for something special, as well as any trick play, it's my opinion that they should be tried EARLY in the season. So even if they don't work, future opponents have to waste time in practice preparing for the possibility, and will have some level of uncertainty. Like a fake punt, we haven't tried one since Mike London.

I loved the shift out of the field goal for the final touchdown, it was definitely a different look. But it was not really a fake field goal, it was just a shift, like what we used to do on extra points.

A win is a win but lots to work on. Tackling was terrible and #5 made some really bad decisions today. On to the Great Danes

The defensive coaching I thought was fine, the guys were in position we just missed a ton of tackles.

In another thread I mentioned maybe our O line was large but maybe to slow, somebody didn't like the comment (which is ok with me I was just pondering) but once again we can't seem to pick up short yardage, we had to do to the trick field goal play to push it in after a few tries. Something is wrong,.....scheme, something we can't get any push up front to pick up that one yard.

We don't pick up short yardage when we make it obvious and go with the jumbo package. We have a stellar corps of receivers and a very good QB, and our running game is good when we have them on the field. If there's no threat to throw, our opponents' defenses are too good when they sell out against the run.

The half-joke about saving Broadus's first throw for a playoff game - well, we have to make the playoffs first.

Agreed. The jig is up on the Broadus running. It has been for a while. We don't need to be 4 wide to run but we can run just fine out of 2 or even 3 wr sets.
