Spiders v. Bison In-game thread

I hope rocco acknowledges how badly everyone played that's one of the things I hate about Mooney... He refuses to accept when the team doesn't show up.

Yeah helmet losses that's why we lost... Jesus give me a break. Any way you slice it we were outplayed from drive 1

Jones had just fielded the ball, slipped, and was hit. It was a bang bang play. Just curious as to why the refs haven't called 1 of the seven or so cheap shots you have seen from your tv. Cause they weren't.

Let me repeat,97.You have obviously never played football.Clueless.

We got beat by a better team tonight. Showed some heart in the second half. Nothing to hang out heads in shame over though. Great season by Rocco and the entire team. Anyone of us would have signed up for a trip to the national semi finals at the beginning of the year.

I don't take any solace in a loss especially an embarrassing one

I don't think Goliath winning is embarrassing. I'm proud of our guys. They fought in the second half. We just aren't as talented. Then again, I don't think anyone is as talented as NDSU.

Very frustrating game, we clearly did not play our best and its a credit to NDSU. I think that fumble on the opening drive that fell right back on their lap made me think maybe things weren't going to go our way. Dropped balls, false starts, poor execution and just not able to control the lines. I would of liked to have seen more rollouts and short passes too, it was evident early on we weren't going to be able to smash our way to the end zone. Congrats NDSU, you deserved it. I don't think this score is reflective of how good our team is but it happens. Hopefully these kids don't forget that feeling and head into next year.

As for the officials, these are supposedly the best officials in FCS? God help us, At least it wasn't a close game or we'd have a legitimate gripe, no excuses for some of those no calls.

And perhaps 32 you took one too many blows to the head in your playing days. You say the same crap every week on these uncalled late hits. And not to say scoreboard but I will, if they were late they would have been called they weren't, end of discussion.

That's fine more than welcome to that opinion, just for me I don't find comfort in a loss whether it's ndsu or Maryland. Iwas excited to play them to end their run but I certainly didn't assume they were better than us from jump Street. At half time I did.

That tackle on Brown around the neck should have been called. Agree any of that isn't the story of why we lose tonight, but certainly doesn't look good for FCS that you can't do better than this crew.

This was Kansas in the Sweet 16 all over again. Still proud of our team. Now on to bigger and better things in 2016

Not end of discussion. Refs not the reason we lost but they were horrible. Blatant late hits, blocks in back, offside. Great team. They do it with the big boys.

The better team won. Period. Stop. Whining about cheap shots when you got your ass whooped physically all night is unbecoming.

Well done this season, Spiders. You ran into a team that was loaded with talent, playing at home, with referees who were apparently scared of the crowd. This was a great team that chewed up the clock and had the best play-calling I have seen this season. You ran into a buzzsaw. It happens. Thank you, Seniors! Underclassmen - learn from this experience - and we will love watching you next year! Go Spiders!

We got whupped tonight, but I'm still very proud of our staff and team. We are very young, and I think the guys learned a lot tonight.

The Spiders definitely had an "off" game.
Your players and coaches should be proud for a better than expected year.
Like people said, its tough playing in Fargo.

Happy Holidays and we will see you next year!

Neither one of these teams played last week. What a difference a week can make. Ndsu is real good. Hopefully learned a thing or two about what it takes to win the championship.

when they recovered their own fumble on the first drive i said that was a bad omen. NDSU was the far better team. no shame in losing to a better team. i just don't understand how bad our O line was and how we couldn't run the ball

Gotta give credit where it's due. We got totally outplayed. They were way more physical than us and dominated the game. I can see why there on their way to another national championship. Tough way to go out but at least we made it this far quite an accomplishment. Thanks for a great season spiders

Tonight just wasn't our night. Definitely a good run for our Spiders and it's been a fun season. Thanks to all our players, especially the Seniors, who have given it a great ride. Hold your heads high and be proud of putting our program back on the national map!

IMO we lost tonight for the same reasons we won the last three. The play of their line was better than ours tonight. Here's to recruiting big, fast linemen. Hat's off to NDSU. They were clearly the better team this go around. Hopefully we can see them in our place in a year or so.

We have the talent to beat NDSU. We had opportunities in the first half to score. We dropped a few interceptions and Kyle missed BB deep for a sure TD. They were fortunate to recover the fumble on their first posession. This game should provide plenty of motivation for the Spiders in the off season.

You are right about the lines. But we ARE recruiting athletic linemen. Continue to accumulate more of them and continue to develop them. We are very close.

Good lord. A team that wasn't even supposed to win the conference makes it to the national semifinals and then loses to a superior team that has not really been challenged while winning four national titles in a row, in the toughest environment in FCS, and someone says we were embarrassed?

We had a great season. We didn't play well, but that's largely attributable to NDSU, which makes a lot of teams play poorly. No shame in that.

We got our butt kicked by a team that's going to win its 5th consecutive title.

Let's get em next year

Look at their fan base. They are rabid for the bison. If that game were At robins it wouldn't even have been a sellout. The student section would have been empty and few would have cared. It's amazing the university puts a product on the field with so little support and yet achieved such lofty goals.
Let's be real.

recruit nationally

I think we recruit nationally. Probably more so than some other teams in the CAA. It seemed that all NDSU had were farm boys from the Dakotas and the Upper Midwest and they do ok.

How's your basketball team? That might be more of a fair fight!

What's your point?

We compete in state with 3 FBS schools and at least 6 FCS schools, all (except maybe W&M) with more lenient standards.

Disagree. RS would have been sold out and the atmosphere would have been outstanding had we hosted them last night. Do we have a smaller fan base than some of our competitors at large state universties? Sure. But we are a small private university. We have some avid fans and get good support from the Richmond community in our bigger games. The football program is really strong and will continue to be with DR at the helm. We will be a top 5 team heading into next year and if we win, gfans will show up.
