Spiders hosting Duquesne Saturday

Looks like it's part of a big shuffle by the A-10...

- St. Joe's @ GW tomorrow is off as both programs are still ramping up coming off pauses.
- Davidson @ St. Joe's on Saturday is off, with Davidson instead heading to Bona on Sunday.
- La Salle will play @ St. Joe's on Saturday instead of hosting us.
- Duquesne at Mason tomorrow is off, with Mason instead hosting Bona on Thursday.

Yes, Q3 either way. More importantly, it's trading a team we lost to at home for one we've owned over the past 20 years, so I'll take it.
 
Coach Mooney did say the league was working with schools to get exposure to the right teams. The league has indicated that it will teams with similar rankings against each other. This is a good example.

Yeah it's kind of a wash. Normally I wouldn't be into a H&H with lasalle but considering we lost a game to them we should have won already I would have felt good in a road rematch. So in a vacuum I'd take that game over home Duq.

However my read is they were rearranging to get us 1 more home game. Granted road games have more value in metrics but we are a little unbalanced down stretch with road games. The Fordham home game is going to be off correct? If so that leaves us with only VCU at home to end the year. And a couple games we are hoping to make up were Dayton and Bona that were both due to be on road. So if they makeup or switch another we'd likely be on road for either of those. idk just my take.
 
Neither one of them is a top tier team though. Replacing one Q3 game with another is doing nothing for our résumé.

Not entirely sure the rationale here...trying to get a single game against more teams rather than doubling up on a non-key opponent? Is it just fallout from other changes?

Edit: Crossed postings with GK...I like the home game theory.

The Bona-Mason game that was just set up yesterday is now off thanks to the weather predictions:

Good news we should absolutely murder Duquesne. They haven’t played in a while.

Of course that didn’t help us vs. the Bonnies nor Hofstra who was without their head coach due to Covid.

So the excuses may only work 1 way. But time to load up the Sportsbook accounts.
 
Looks like Davidson is going to hang on against Southern Virginia...up 93–49 with three minutes to go. A-10 will move to 2–0 against the Coast to Coast Conference. :cool:

Is there actually a school called Southern Virginia?? Is this just a bunch of guys from Danville and Martinsburg, or maybe an online school?

I lol'd at martinsburg.....If Tarrantula was still here he would crucify you for not calling it Martinsville.

We called them BYU east when I was in college. They have less % of Virginians at their school than we do. At the time rosters are almost entirely comprised of people from the Rocky Mountain area of the country primarily Utah. I think they finally are allowed to play on Sundays IIRC. Almost everyone hated that school when I was in college because of their poor sportsmanship across the board.

Rudest set of tennis players I have ever competed or coached against which should say something considering the country clubs and private schools I used to work at around here teaching it.

LOL. Tarrantula would definitely crucify me for sure. I was just in Martinsburg West Va a couple days ago so my mind played a trick on me. I didn't remember you being a tennis player. I still play in a seniors league twice a week.

Yea picked it up later in life (Thanks to RPS sports or lackthereof) towards the end of HS. Self taught and played deccently enough in college to win some tournaments and get some accolades but cant help wishing I started earlier in life. Shorlty after college was playing on a 5.5 NTRP winning tournaments and beating 6.0 guys before my foot gave out in my late 20s and wasnt willing to put in the rehab or work to get back.

What club/facility do you play?
 
Rec league......I'm not one of your country club blue bloods. I'm 72, if you're in my age group maybe I could get you back on the court!
 
Game is available on the nbc sports website. Missed the first 5 minutes though because the online broadcast wasn't working. Classic
 
I couldn’t watch the VCU game, had to listen on radio, watching this GMU VCU game they are both pretty poor teams.....and we’re middle of the pack in the A10.....wow
 
Did three more days of recovery mean that much? Or is Duquesne that bad?

Playing a team not coming off a long covid pause helps. VCU has benefited quite a bit this season from it (to their credit) and took advantage of it and the hype machine will always build them up whoever they beat. If Bones ankle sprain is high, they'll be lucky to go 2-2 next week. Will be curious with no Q1 wins if they would get in as an at-large bid.

That being said, I saw what you saw.
