Signing Day,Wednesday Feb 2

Love Highland Springs players - that’s always a good thing.

looks like had offers from Maryland, UNC & NCState. Impressive.

not sure we have enough in numbers but looks like high quality players.

so were Tomlinson and Veney surprises...not to staff but they were new names on here, correct?

Someone on staff should have Veney correct his Twitter bio. Seen Richmond U with recruits talking about visits or offers but never from someone who already signed.

Veney supposedly has been committed to UR for months, according to Russ.Nothing public.

Tomlinson had a number of offers and was just recently on an OV to Jacksonville St.
It seems his decision on UR was made fairly recently especially since we didn’t offer until Jan 25.

Looks like a nice collection of players.

32, why do you feel like the class is so small? In the past, it seemed like we'd always have 16-18 freshmen.

Is this a function of the 'new normal' with annual free agency? More spots for transfers?

Will be interesting to see how many of these 10 players walk on senior day with us in 4 (or 5) years.

1st analysis:

Our roster count is now forecasted presently at 84 without future attrition:

26 (Fr + RFr)
22 (So + RSo)
21 (Jr + RJr)
15 (RSr + Gr)
——-
84*

*includes PWO’s Snelsire and Clarke and DeGennero(Md)

Pretty good balance among classes.

Forthcoming:

2nd analysis by position-needs

3rd analysis deeper dive into RJr and RSr given “free Covid 19 season”

1.OL
====

For 2022- Ten(10) are presently rostered + 2 signees=12 to be rostered

That includes Snavely who is coming off leg surgery

Experience breakdown:

2-Fr
3-RFr
5-RJr
2-RSr

For 2021,we were rostered for Fifteen(15) at the beginning of last season although Sumpter,Settipani,Singleton,Snavely were injured for most, if not all of the season.

We need to visit the transfer portal for 1-2 OL to add very needed depth. It’s a positiion group that has historically experienced a higher than normal rate of attrition during the preseason and season.

2.DL
====

In 2021 we had Sixteen(16) rostered although Ritten was out injured, and Hedrick, Montana, Calveric,Budd and Aherns played very little,if any.

For 2022 we have Nine(9) rostered + 2 signees= 11 to be rostered

Experience breakdown:

2-Fr
4-RFr
2-RSo
1-RJr
2-RSr

We are young and relatively inexperienced. We need 1-2 transfer players to add for playing experience and depth.

Gone are Reynolds,Brooks,Turner. We don’t have the horses to backfill these front line losses.

Most other position groups appear sufficiently inventoried, some are more than sufficient.

Don’t know if this helps at all but worth a shot. My family has a very good friend who’s son was a star at western albemarle high school in charlottesville the last 4 years. He is getting mainly low level offers from ODAC type schools, maybe a few D2 and has a walk on spot at Vanderbilt. However when talking to him he said he really wants to play for Richmond. My dad reached out to Jeff Hanson to try and get him some looks but doesn’t look like much has happened there yet. Was just curious if anyone on here would have any connections to try and help this kid out. He’s a great student, played multiple positions in football and killed it at each one. He would have to be a preferred walk on but he doesn’t care. He would be a great fit for UR so we really want to help him out.

He could get in to Richmond as a student if it weren’t for football. Has hudl and was all region for his team the last 2 years I believe. Problem is that he is not getting much help from his high school coaches in the recruiting process or so I’ve heard. He would definitely be a developmental guy who would need to redshirt and out more weight on. Could play receiver, safety, or even outside linebacker if he adds some weight as he’s already 6’2. Not great seed or athleticism which seems to be holding him back. However we have had guys before come out as low level prospects or walk ons and ended up having fantastic careers at UR. I really think he could be right up there with some of those guys. Kid wants to play, BAD, so give him the chance.

I think he is asking for the answers to those questions. You've patted him on his back, none of that helps if we don't know who he is.

Contact info for all the coaches listed. Took me 5 seconds to google it. Would seem like basic step to email them all individually. If no bites maybe it wasn’t meant to be.
