Anyone know if we still have an analytics specialist on staff and/or who handles the scout on our opponents?

There seems to be both anecdotal and evidence-based views that we often underperform against our competition’s averages, including our 3-pt defense (some data) and the regular occurrence of some guy having a career night against us (anecdotal).

Feels to me like a potentially noteworthy gap in our game prep.

If we used analytics we might have to adapt and change something and that’s a program no-no!

If we do have a person like this on staff, he or she sucks at this job.
Well kinda my point. We certainly have someone doing the scout. But if they’re not using any kind of advanced analytics to do so, it raises the question of how competent our game plan is.

But perhaps I’m overconfident that this is either a common or useful practice in cbb.

Not to put words in anyone's mouth, but believe SpiderDad said the staff is very much into analytics. Scout duties are rotated among the assistants. Putting one and one together suggests analytics are part of the scout....perhaps not read astutely enough. :)

I guess I’m glad to hear this? It definitely calls into question the game plan resulting from the scout and the analytics.

best scout of the year was definitely the SLU game where we specifically scouted their one OOB play that they then ran successfully for layups 3 times in the game.
Memories of Dayton at the RC. Can’t remember if it was last year or further back.
