Rumor

It is not just rumor. The producer of Gameday mentioned it as possibility on radio. Albany has a social media campaign going.

The Spiders bring eyeballs, quite obviously.

Earlier this evening Levack and Goz on ESPN Radio 1045 The Team taped an interview with ESPN College Gameday producer Lee Fitting.

The full interview will air during Friday’s show at 3:15 p.m. Fitting explained the process in which Saturday afternoon Gameday sites are selected, and if lower level schools are weighed differently in the selection process. On Saturday October 8th, the UAlbany Great Danes football team hosts the Richmond Spiders in a match up between two nationally ranked FCS teams. Levack asked Fitting the question of if Albany, NY is being considered for the October 8th ESPN College Football Gameday site. Fitting’s response was “Albany is being added to the consideration list”. Albany has never hosted ESPN’s College Gameday since the Saturday afternoon show started during live shows on location in 1993. College Gameday would be added to a list of athletic events potentially coming to to the capital region. The 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is considering Albany has a potential host city for Rounds 1 and 2. The Times Union Center has already been confirmed to host UFC Fight Night on December 9th. Levack and Goz airs weekday 2-7pm on 1045 The Team.

This makes no sense to me. Zero name recognition for them as host. They draw 7000 to an 8500 seat stadium.

Must be a very long consideration list.

FBS slate next weekend must be really bad if they would consider going to Albany.

Save Gameday for a home game, or the finale against the Indians. Then again, if the Tribe keep playing Clueless football....

While others say they are everybody's Super Bowl, apparently we are everybody's Game Day...

Listen closely. This is all about a local Albany sports radio guy asking Lee Fitting if he would consider Albany for GameDay.Never happen...

They need to get our home game with JMU. Up there last year; down here this year. If both teams continue to win, it could be a game with playoff implications - and two good teams with good offenses.

Ok Game Day at Richmond, can you imagine anything more embarrassing. 100, maybe, students show up, plus a bunch of gray haired long term fans.

Doesn't Gameday effectively show up at the tailgate not the game? I wonder how many students would show up at the Gameday "tailgate" set?

I guess you would be one of those who wouldn't be on hand!!! I am sure more than 100 students would show up.

maybe we need to start admitting students who like to party and who love sports as opposed to those who are touchy-feely types. this would apply to all aspects of those things happening on and off campus.

Spinner - you mean regular kids who will enjoy college, have successful careers, and give back to the University? Students similar to the one's that used to be desired on college campuses?

I couldn't quickly find the stats on this year's class, but last year's entering freshman class, 32% of those that enrolled were the captains of their varsity team (252 kids). Extrapolate that out and you have 1,000 captains of varsity teams. Should be a good start, but I'm not sure if they now consider Quidditch a varsity sport...

And I always took you as the "touchy-feely" type.

was this more of a funny haha rumor? fwiw Gameday decided to go to College Station.

When Gamesay does show up to the Brickhouse, you are crazy if you don't think the students would be there. Also, you would have plenty of Spider alumni and fans from the community. The game would be well attended too. Hope it happens soon....maybe when we get NDSU here for a semi final playoff game! Just need them to lose 2 games and have us run the table.

will be in the station but not sure i want to join in that mess, unless one of you can think of a sign that would make it
