Your points are well taken however the issue with the upgrades is that the AD dept has LIED to the coaches player and incoming parents about the locker room and upgrades. If someone just said we are renovating in 2018 that would have be fine but it's a persistent lie and has become an issue, I don't what's behind the problem, I do know it's been handled poorlyWe just spent a ton of money renovating the Robins Center. Upgrades are forthcoming at Pitt Field. We've upgraded facilities on the WC side of campus. Before than, we spent millions building an on-campus FB stadium.
I have no doubt that in the near future football will get its new locker room/weight room, etc. But sometimes you have to wait your turn.
As for complaints about gear, etc., I have never heard boo about this until this past week. The adult in me asks, "What prepares you better for a successful future, an unlimited supply of gloves at JMU, or a UR education?", but kids see things differently than we old geezers. They often choose glitz over substance.
He is an excellent coach. And I believe he thought he could never win a national title given our recruiting parameters, and started looking for a place where he could get almost anyone he wanted into school. Delaware just happened to be the first opportunity. Everything else is a smokescreen.
To say he did not want to leave is a falsehood. He chose to leave, so I can only assume it was because he wanted to.
Thanks for your service, good luck, and we'll do fine without you.
Regarding gear well your right the adult in us all says not a big deal but we are not college football players (not anymore) and it means more than it should. But this is the easiest part to fix but if goes to feeling they are not important. There is a strong general feeling that the football players are second class citizens (that's their perception) I think after this plays out some perception changes are needed along with the physical.
I am writing Pres. Crutcher to see if he can meet with the players and do some outreach ...like he does for other groups feeling somewhat slighted
I think that would send s good signal to a lot of people
Sometimes a lot of good comes from a disruptive situation!
