don't know about most fans, but I walked out of The Brick House feeling kind of like we stole something...

but you know what?...we got the win and it's pretty clear now that unless something changes we're going to have to fight our guts out for each W...we hung in there today and did just enough to get the win...

ironically, it was a special teams play that got us the winning score...

Go Spiders!

Well said Mojo. Tackling was spotty on D. I really like the balance the O has found with Goodall. Gutsy call by coaching staff as noted above.

Amazing that winning TD. I groaned when Rocco sent in field goal team. I heard some boos in the crowd as well. But I heard the Towson players were pointing to Broaddus, so they weren't entirely fooled. What I don't know if they had regular defense in the game,, or special teams players. If latter, the trickery may well have bee effective.

You are right, we will have to fight for every win from here on out. We could still get better as we did last year at the end. Team still makes a lot of stupid mistakes though (penalties). Kick offs will continue to be a disaster. Smart teams are going to put good returners at the second tier from here on and return those 50 yard kick offs. Tackling in first half was weak at best. Lauletta's timing looked better sooner in the game, but he got away with some dropped picks. Love the tight end #11, but he dropped two big balls tonight. First bad snap I have seen #39 Latham make in 3 years. Got away with it. I still think they can throw it to Brian anytime they want to. QB #14 needs to throw one ball this year so there is some chance of it happening. Lastly #13 Jones was a huge loss today. We must have him back ASAP. He tried to come back out in second half but he was in terrible pain.

Griffin Trau was great today and is mister reliable. Great job! OSC
I agree, Trau made all his extra points and a nice field goal, which was the margin of victory. Can't kick off worth a darn though. Is the ODU transfer still hurt? If nothing else let the kid kick off for us.

K I'm with you about Broadus, it's monotonous how every time he is taking the snap, he runs between the tackles. Need to show something different once in a while to keep opponents guessing.

I know Jones was hurt, but what happened?

Jones made a big hit on the running back after everyone else missed. I noticed he got up with his arm hanging down And came out of game and went to locker room. Came out after half with a hard cast the full length of his forearm. When was running out he was wincing in pain. I assume he broke it.

the Towson lineman who jumped offside on 4th and 1, very likely saved us.

That's a fact!! We were lucky as hell, and on the defensive holding call when Lauletta got picked. We of course got screwed on the delay of game that nullified our pick 6

I think Rocco wanted to give it a try, we've practiced that play but have never run it. I think he expected Towson to call a timeout to change their defense, but inexplicably they didn't.

For those who read the RTD,JOC wrote exactly the same thing.

32, I had not read the JOC article, but did see the Rocco post game presser.

Interesting, that JOC adds more info on why Towson didn't call a timeout. Their coach said they weren't fooled, they saw right away that Broaddus was the holder, and knew he would carry the ball. He felt that they had players in, who could stop the play and didn't want to burn a timeout.

Don't know that I favor using that play again. One, it won't surprise anyone. But secondly, you have a short yardage play, and Griffin Trau is in the backfield. Love him as a kicker, but doubt that he's much of a blocker, runner, or receiver.

Was anybody present that did not know Broaddus was going to carry the ball? Still, a gutsy call.

No one was surprised, Broaddus had 8 carries for 19 yards, enough said. Unless inside the three, put this play on the shelf.

Saw the replay when I got home from the game. Towson players, despite what their coach said, were caught off guard by the maneuver.

Broadus is the back-up holder, I would have him hold a field goal that we actually kick next game. If anything the D steps back and doesn't bring a rush due to fear of the fake

Towson D-line was not set on the snap. The d-lineman over our right guard was standing up which allowed us to blow him back into the end zone and create a soft spot.

Great Call!

I thought our defensive line played a great game and did a good job rushing the passer all day. Guys like Andrew Clyde, Winston Craig, Andrew Tallman, Chad Wiggins, and Adam Farley really stepped up and are having a phenomenal season. These guys are the unsung heroes behind the success of the Spiders as far as I can tell.

Is Muse on the DL hurt?
He did have turf toe earlier in the season. Maybe that is why Tallman & Farley, both of which I believe are not on the roster, replaced Waller & Muse, both of which have been on the field this season?

Tallman and Farley have both been gone for at least 2 seasons. Possibly 3.

Not sure why he did not play. He played the two weekends before against both Stony Brook and Towson. Maybe he reinjured his toe. Would like to know what the situation is. Fan1, do you have any insight?

Sure wish they had names on the back of the jerseys. I often confuse the numbers of the participants, especially the substitute linemen. Anyone know the reason for no name on jerseys?
