obviously Jake Larson has been a very bright star in what figures to be another tough season...it's arguable he's been the Spiders MVP season to date...

today was another great example of how much he contributes with right foot...

it's not only the FGs and PATs that we can rely on, but his kickoffs and punting are giving our special teams a chance to be better...five kickoffs today with only 94 yards of returns, an average of only 19 yards...I'm not sure the Great Danes ever got it to their 35 on a kick return...six punts that weren't real pretty, but very effective...UAlbany had zero punt return yardage!

for years Richmond fans have been on pins and needles every time we kicked off, or punted...Larson's distance and hang time on kickoffs give our special teams a much needed better chance of breaking up the returns...

I just wish I could back up my wedges the way Larson backs up his punts...

In fairness to Albany, hard to return punts that only went 20 yards. But you're right, he is the bright star in a very dim night.

The O-line needs to figure out why one of the FG attempts was blocked. That could get hairy late in a close game. And some O-Line guys need to figure out why they spent so much time standing around looking back at the QB getting sacked. Win more battles, guys. Singleton - I sat next to your dad at the Spring Game two years ago. Nice guy - and he knows the game. He kept yelling to you to stop reaching and leaning for your blocks. Today, you had three holding penalties. My grandmother can block better than that - and she's been dead since 1978.

Beau English can run like a deer when he has to, and when there is some daylight. Durden needs to have a talk with him that goes something like this: "Beau - if you are attempting to pass, and the rush or a corner blitz doesn't leave you with much room, either (1) run like a deer if you can find a seam, or (2) sling the ball to our track out of bounds. That is deer or track. No more getting 1 yard gains or two yard losses. Hurl the pigskin to the track - and the line of scrimmage remains the same." Do it, Coach!
