Practice. I mean practice!

This seems REALLY early for first practice, no? Did the NCAA change the rules or have we been practicing this far in advance for a few years and I just didn't realize it?

NCAA changed the rules on practice for women's basketball and experimented with it for two years. Then they moved the men's practices up, as well. You still have the same number of practices - but you can give the kids off a day here and there; you also have a longer period of time to teach offense and defense, etc. - so the kids are not worn out by the time the season starts.

Did anyone else notice a large absence of Paul Friendshuh? If defense is going to be our bigger and better focus this season, don't we need our biggest player? Maybe he was in class? Or is he hurt (again)?

I haven't heard anyone mention him. Can't be good

Like the attitudes of Coach, Shawndre, and TJ. Now it's time to make this a memorable year for all. OSC

Is PF still on the team?? I have seen several videos and have not seen him in any of them and no one has mentioned him. Is he done? I certainly hope not.

Around the 1:10 mark in the video that started this thread, standing in the background. Sadly that is the view we have seen of him the most.

Was not discounting, TJ he is a great leader as well. Both of them have a much more insightful interview on the team, than does our head man, who has a perpetual case of coach speak.

you'd find fault with anything Coach says. he could have said word for word what SDJ said and you'd have a problem with it.

I probably missed this in an earlier thread somewhere, but is solly officially ineligible until next season?

23, thanks for the link. good read. would be nice to have had him this year, but as long as he is practicing with the team now he should be a big part of our success at the 4 next season.

Although it seemed that the prevailing thought was that he would not be eligible until next year, I really was hoping for this year. He seems like a guy that could really fill a few different roles well. He has been seasoned over in Europe, and looks to have some nice skill, athleticism and toughness. We could have used his skill set and experience this year. I see him as a very good sized wing, that could move down and play some 4 for stretches. Glad to have him for the next two years.

Reading that article's ending (see above) it sounds like he will only be available for two seasons, starting in 2017/2018. If he is a strong inside/outside player then two seasons of help from him will be very welcome. It looks to me like he may be a guy who can play some power-forward and do some rebounding, and perhaps even play some interior defense. If so, his skill-set will be a very welcome addition to the team. And, by next season he will likely be very familiar with the offensive sets and the defenses too. He will likely not be playing like a freshman next season.

play like a freshman? I sure hope not. kid played 3 years in France. he's got to be about 21.
I actually think it works out great that he sits this year. he'll be very accustomed to what we do and settled in school. and this year we have TJ, Marshall, and Kwesi. we get two years of Solly when we need him most.
