Wife doesn't allow screaming at the tv. BTW quit reading the posts and just watch the damn game.....

I will dignify it with a response, nevertheless. For me, it's because there is no chance of me watching the game with anyone. I like to watch games with other people, and this is the best I've got. Simple, really.

I read them after the game, and like URFan1 said after the W&M football game, its like what is posted vs. what happened are two completely different things. I guess I just don't get it, I live and die w/ every possession. More interested in listening to Bob/Greg or a guy like Raftery, then typing our my comments.

LTL certainly agree with the comment about the same game. I get tired of the negative comments -- if the guys are fighting they deserve our support. This team is being lead by Terry and Shawndre, these two guys are showing they are winners. Enjoy the ride, if TJ, Marshall, and 1 or 2 others become more consistent this team could give us a very special year. Either way the guys are having fun and playing hard, they want to win, the only thing I can do to help is cheer them on and I plan on doing that.
But only if you write only positive comments and never criticize anyone.
not so, if that were the case every negative comment would be deleted -- but some "fans" cannot do anything but criticize. there are very few instances in which you cannot find anything positive/supportive to say
This is a point that doesn't really matter but just wonder how long? one can be a LongTimeLurkerFirstTimePoster? Would it not be more correct to change the number with each ensuing post? Please don't take this too seriously..........................
Well fan...you could "lurk" for the first time in different areas to retain your title. Just not the first time on this forum any longer
Thanks 64 for giving me an excuse to continue this line of thought..................the word "lurk" formerly had a very unpleasant connotation as in evil "lurks" but lo and behold with the invention of message boards the connotation became "read the postings on an Internet message board or in a chat room without making any contribution oneself". Therefore if one is posting that one can no longer be consider a "lurker" which is even more reason to change the posting name. Again this post is not to be taken too seriously.....................

I don't have time to post-I'm watching the game and not reading posts. Why should I care what someone
else is posting during a game?

And look on every other board in the whole country and you will find posters questioning strategy by the coach. But perfect Richmond fans aren't allowed to do it? Why? UNC fans are questioning Williams everyday. Wake fans wanted Manning gone after our game w them. Mooney makes a million a year to coach kids and we can't question that he never changes d even when our guys are getting toasted? This is maybe the dumbest thread to ever exist on any basketball message board. Every board has an in game thread and teams with REAL fan bases have thirty plus pages of commentsevery game discussing great plays and bad plays. This thread is why about only 200 fans participate on it.
The same young men that play this game say the exact same things we do. They just use many more adjectives, most we can't say or have no idea what they mean. They are much more harsh than we are, and just like us, they appreciate the good plays. These aren't babies we are talking about.
Hey, got no issue with negative posts about the team's play or coaches. What I do have issues with are some of the "visceral" negative posts directed at and about individual players. Not interesting conversation to me. To each his own I guess.

Yea to each his own. It's a message board. No one should be trying to tell others what they should post or how they showed feel. Those that keep criticizing posters, get over yourselves.
even more hilarious, posters can nail student/athletes and coaches but not other posters. realize that many fans think they know more than the coaches but the operative word is "think"
I think we should post more during the game. I think Fore can jump over any other G to score. Gonzo could post alos very good.
Please define visceral. Do you mean that it shouldn't be ok to point out that sub 50% free throw shooters shouldn't be in at the end of the game when the other team has to foul? Or that they've had four years to improve but haven't?

SpiderRick, who's on the floor is on the coaches, not the players. Criticize them all you want. Criticize the team however you like. It's just some of the comments on players by name that seem over the top. All our players, including those on the bench, play their role and ARE D1 players. But everyone has the right to say whatever they like and I have the right to ignore and move on.
Bottom line to me is that no one, IMO, who is critical of an individual player's performance on the court is suggesting that that player is a bad person. It's just commentary on factual performance and reflects personal opinion. These guys all have chosen to compete at a high level, and with that comes scrutiny, praise and criticism. I have no problem with the discussion of these things.
I'm a fan of many boards as a wake alum and this is the most intolerant board I have been on. No one can critique anything without harassment. Totally bs.

putting up a billboard on I-40 asking for his removal. Yes he is a coach,
but when you come after coach, you are coming after the team.
Regardless who is to blame, we have some kids who are not comfortable
shooting foul shots and being upper class men with little to no improvement,
is so frustrating. Somebody has not taught or learned good technique. Zo was
a very poor FT shooter in beginning but dramatically improved each year. He
obviously worked on it, so why has DT and Trey as seniors still struggle with it?

DAD, this is not a social issue and tolerance is not at play here. if i don't personally like what others say here, not being able to say that here would be intolerant, yet i can. just because someone disagrees with you does not reflect intolerance, only a difference of opinion. have been on numerous message boards and would never want this one to look anything like those, way over the top. personally don't like the personal hits on out student/athletes but that is my feeling and understand that there are those who will go after them and understand that is going to happen here. if you enjoy those other boards and the complete out of control manure that is slung there, by all means, hang there and hope we never get there.

I agree with Spinner. Fatherspider you criticize posters for being critical and intolerant of negative posters...so you are saying you can say what you want but they can't? Get a life! Also your earlier post about this board being so small because of intolerable posters and comments is completely wrong. A lot of the long time posters who have inside informationj including recruiting information, injury reports, analysis of opponents, etc. have basically quit posting because of personal attacks on players and I'am one of them. They are actually having group online discussions during games. I can assure you we are critical and get frustrated but we choose to say Deion is a poor free throw shooter not that he sucks, or isn't a D1 player. The kid is a scholarship player at a very good college basketball program and plays his heart out. This isn't Wake Forest and or any other message board it's the University of Richmond and it has it's own personality. The bottom line is post what you want but don't react to someone who doesn't like what you say. Or if you like the way they do it maybe stay on the Wake Forst board. Oh by the way with our terrible players, our horrible free throw shooters, our poor end of game coaching, our horrible rebounding we just beat them for I believe we just them for the 4th time in 7 games or something like that.
