We have one non-starter senior, A walk on who last four years, I say start him

Yes and by the time the 8pm tip off rolls around we should know exactly how important this game is to our seeding----suspect this will play a big factor in the decision.

Totally agree that Chu should start. He's worked hard and put in the time for 4 years. A few mins at the start of game won't determine the outcome.

At least two for the Chu! Two minutes of DT's time definitely would not hurt us.

Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle (yes that's his name) started 5 walk-ons on senior night because he didn't have any seniors. They came out after 28 seconds down 3-0. Lost the game by 3 (65-62). Just saying.

Who has a better chance at making a 3-pt shot? Give Chu a couple min to play and bet he gets at least one to go in.

No. Scholarship seniors only, we need this one.
There is no way having Chu play for less than a minute at the beginning of the game will cause us to lose to the last place team in the A10. He deserves the start.

There is no way that him being in the game at the start makes it more likely that UR will win either. He's not going to shoot, will be vulnerable on defense. Play to get a big lead and then put him in when UR is up by a bunch.

Lest you forget that UR lost to Mason this year.

We lost to Mason at Mason. This is a home game. Having Chu play for less than a minute against the worst team in the conference will not affect the outcome of the game. At most it will gave St. Louis a point or two head start. I can't believe people on here think that starting Chu could cause us to lose the game.

From my perspective, we've never started walkon seniors before, why would we start now? It's just not our thing. Plus, would we do the same thing in a near if our last game was against a team we were decidedly an underdog against? I doubt it.

I think Zach will get some minutes if the team plays a good game. And if I'm coach, I'd not want to deal with the bipolar fan base here if we somehow lost by a razor thin margin that a walkon was dinged for.

I think 5 or 6 posters on this board must be related to Chu. I've never seen a walk on for the Spiders garner as much undeserved attention.

I'm not related to Chu and I think he deserves the attention. Our walk ons help the team, and all appear to be solid young men who are popular, with the fans. What's wrong with that?

If Chu doesn't start, I am sure the starters will play hard to get him in. The place will go wild when he comes in. It should be a fun night and I am looking forward to it. Remember to get there early folks and enjoy the game.

There is zero correlation between the Oregon State example being thrown around, and our game vs SLU. Coach Tinkle put 5 non-senior walk-ons on the floor. Plus, the close loss had everything to do with how the regular starters played the remaining 99+% of the game, not the fact that walk-ons started and played less than 30 seconds. Coaches bench starters all the time to send a message, sometimes the entire starting team sits at the beginning of the game because the coach is making a point. Dean Smith did it all the time. That doesn't mean that team is automatically going to lose.

The Oregon State example is just a coincidence and a statistical outlier. Promoting the story gets clicks and eyeballs for the publisher.

Let Chu start and play for a minute, it will fire up our team and the crowd (he is clearly a big crowd favorite), and has practically no downside whatsoever. The positives far outweigh the potential negatives.

If he does play, why shouldn't he shoot? My god, the kid has the best long distance shot on the team. He should definitely shoot every time he gets the ball with an open look. I actually thought there were times during the season when we couldn't throw it into the ocean, when I thought the coach should have put Chu in just to fire things up. I seem to remember some years back when a team played a senior walkon who had virtually never played. He lit the place up and wound up playing a lot during the post season games. I wish I could remember the team and player. It happens. He may not contribute, but I don't see Chu hurting the team by playing a few minutes EARLY. If we can't beat the last place team at home on senior Day just because Chu plays some, then we don't deserve to be in the post season.
