Playoff Seed Watch

We really need to get one of these seeds. Teams that have to play the Saturday after Thanksgiving just don't get deep in the playoffs.

My guess is we land around #10 in the polls this week. We need one of those Top 8 Seeds.

Charleston Southern losing to Gardner Webb yesterday was a big result because they were in the hunt for a seed.

Stuff we need to happen:

-Win out
-JMU over Nova - yuck.
-Sam Houston over Central Arkansas in a couple weeks.
-any loss for Chattanooga, North Dakota,South Dakota St

The top 6 seeds are pretty well locked in. There are about 5-6 schools competing for the last 2 and we are among this group;

I mean it in the sense that if we lose we have no chance at a seed, win out and we still have a chance for a seed. Not in win and we are guaranteed a seed.
 
Agree with Mo Anaysis.

1.Chatty(8-1,6-1) hosts Wofford next weekend.Finishes up at Bama.
--> Wofford has a shot and a loss to Bama wont hurt
2.Sammy and CA(8-1,7-0) play each other on the last weekend.
--> Sammy likely winner
3.North Dakota finishes next week hosting N AZ.
--> ND(8-2,7-0) leads the Big Sky with EWU.They don't play each other.
4.SDSU(6-3,5-1) hosts SD and then visits UNI.
-->UNI can beat anyone at their place(except us)
5.Nova(7-2,5-1) hosts JMU(8-1,6-0) next Saturday.It will be their halftime when we kickoff v Blue Hens.

As of today,we are playing the weekend immediately after Turkey Day,possibly v Liberty(6-3,4-0)or Chas Southern(5-3,2-1).They play next weekend at Liberty,the winner takes Big South AQ.Even at 9-2 we will need help to sit out 1st weekend.

at this point am only thinking make the playoffs, seed would be nice but we won a NC on the road as have others. we just need to focus on our next games and then let the chips fall where they may. too many teams have lost big games like this and just folded like a cheap suit, coaches and team leaders need keep us on the rails and thinking about what really matters and that is the next game.

I believe the "will to win" of this team with the coaching and player leadership will keep us hungry. One goal of a conference championships is not going to happen but there are other goals still attainable. The loss to JMU in our championship year was much more emotionally draining result and that team never looked back.

What will to win are you talking about? The one where we didn't force a punt the entire game?
 
With everything that happened in the game, give our offense the ball with 1:35 and three timeouts left to win a game and I will take it. We did not get it done and got beat. Can't change that but at least can learn from it and move on because the season is not over.

Maturity will help you learn to deal with defeat VT whether you are a true Spider fan or a troll.

I would put a lot of money on us losing either of the next two and even both. I think we're spent after yesterday.
 
the more this guy talks, the more i know he is a purple puke troll. no SPID would ever say that that umwcah has a better program, that is just stupid. need to let him converse with himself.

Agreed. I'm putting him on ignore. I'm wasting my time with his bullshit. I wonder what Shields the former Spider did to this turd .

He took me to every game from the time I was about 6. There's nothing wrong about being realistic about your team

Western Illinois losing helped too. A 9-2 MVFC team was going to be in the mix.
 
We were #7 in the Committee poll. We probably drop to #9 this week.
I can very easily see us the "9 seed" even at 9-2, which is every bit as good as the #24 seed.
If Central Arkansas beats Sam Houston State, that's very bad for us.
 
Agreed. I have heard some conjecture that, in that scenario, Sammy State might not have the schedule strength to keep a Top 8 seed.

There's a surprise or two out there still. Let's hope we aren't one of them.

We'll see. I agree SHSU shouldn't be a seed if they can't run the table with their schedule, but the committee already has them at #2.

We really need the seed if we want to move forward, but I do like the Southern slant -- least we go to warmer weather ;-)
 
Liberty is a problem because they stand a decent chance of outbidding us.

Would a loss to Chuck South put them OUT?

Think so.Liberty would have 4 losses with 1 remaining game v Coastal.Dont see them as 1 of 14 At Large
at that point even though 2 of their losses v FBS(Tech,SMU).If they beat Chas South,they will
get Big South AQ.

I thought the MEAC got out of the FCS playoffs. They've gone to play the SWAC in a bowl type game?
