I am taking suggestions for UR Basketball annoyances that are worthy of redress. My top petition topics are:

1) Permanent burning of the red uniforms
2) A ban on any use of the word “Competed” in post-game commentary
3) A requirement that the PR sheet we supply to announcers for away games insist upon equal inclusion of CM’s record number of losses as Spiders head coach when mentioning he has the most wins

Please feel free to add to the list.

No more player whining to the refs.
No more blaming the refs for every loss.
Press. And substitute. All game.
The season is already done....sit the old guys and get the younger guys some valuable experience.

Can we plan a mass protest at a game? I’m talking like we all sit near each other and start a very loud fire Mooney chant. This stuff works. Tech fired Justin fuente in part because the fans were so upset that they couldn’t justify keeping him and it started with a fire Fuente chant towards the end of the awful loss to Syracuse this year. The AD walked off the field in embarrassment when this happened. I suggest we find out when the president will be at a game and we do this.

I have looked in the mirror and come to the conclusion that a change is needed at the top of our basketball program. We must do it NOW!! Let’s take our losses and began fresh💯💯! This as nothing to do with players.

Hopefully the guy in the mirror didn’t tell you to go find another team to root for. ;)

That was a great game! As a Syr fan, you are most welcome for the final nail in JF's coffin!

Crutcher has been at games when they were yelling for Mooney to get lost. That didn't go anywhere. UR hoops is at a much smaller scale than 60K Hokies yelling for Fuente to get lost.

Welcome to the dark side, my friend. Your conscious shall be free here. Welcome.

We just need to be louder about it. More criticism on social media, more yelling at games, more calling in to the radio station and going off on Mooney. Whatever we can do to help make this happen.

Capitulation in this case is a good thing.

I see some people starting to say things on Facebook, of course they are being deleted very quickly, but it’s started.

I agree with the ban the red uniforms FOREVER theory. Or at least until we win an NCAA game again. Then we can open the next season wearing them.

With due respect 712, believe there is a better approach. Money. UR understands money only too well. A significant decline in donations accompanied by a clear explanation as to why and fewer fannies in the seats will get their attention.

Who would want to be schmoozing for donations in the President's box at a football or basketball game when the place is half empty and one step above a morgue? Makes for a hard sell. Does not project the image desired to ply donations from folks.

Don't believe the Admin is inclined to buckle to "in your face tactics". They will buckle when the "product" hurts them financially.

Hate to say this. Love my school. But they need a slap across the face to bring them to when it comes to athletics.

I like the look and after all, red is our primary color. But the bad luck/karma/outcome/whatever is undeniable when we wear them. Hence, despite my initial hope which I shared wtih Eight Legger, my suggestion above until we win a more meaningful game.

The defense is getting really really shaky. The play where two guys watched an open three pointer in the corner used to drive me crazy when I coached youth travel teams. Have to guard the ball. I'm probably wrong again, but I just feel the niceness and fluidity prioritization on offense impedes Mooney's willingness to be a hard ass on defense. We just see soft interior defense, defensive mistakes over and over, but not much correction or detriment to playing time. Well, at least we only have two more seasons, plus two more for recruiting, and then another two year extension, and if we are lucky and have a top 5 finish in the A10 probably a four year extension.

Add to my list "No More Whining About The Red Uniforms"

So, I agree with 712. UR has so much money that any potential loss of a few donors fans in the seats, they really don't care about. Plus, as long as the mega donor, keeps the tap on, what does it matter if a few season ticket holders, small donors say they are done.

I think the only thing that has caused any type of response from the admin has been to "in your face tactics". The social media engagement of the FMM and it's supporters a few years back, calls into local sports radio, particularly Bob's show and ultimately the billboard was I think the only thing that caused them to react.

Now true, there reactions was to circle the wagons around Mooney, but they clearly didn't like the negative attention. If they had a round two of that, I don't think they are going to like it anymore this year than they did several years ago and I think it remains to be seen if their response would be different than last time.

Not that I am advocating another billboard, but am saying if folks want change, sitting quietly on the sidelines is exactly what they want us to do.

While I think there’s reason to think a normal school operates on this principle I don’t think it’s true at UR. If money were solely or primarily driving decisions I think CM would have been gone awhile ago.

I think UR reacts more reflexively to bad publicity/embarrassment. So I think there’s some merit to 712’s idea, although I doubt the particular suggestion would work. The “event” would likely have to be reasonably public and garner decent publicity CB attention. But I do think that’s how you move the needle on something like this.

I second this and would be happy to do so. I’ll be at the game tomorrow. But maybe we should plan it when they bring Huesman in for half time recognition. We could kill two birds with one stone.

I think someone people chicken out once it started. You really need to find some vocal leaders to get the ball rolling. Getting on message blogs is a start. Organize and get it done. Having people opt out or no show. Is basically showing zero heart. The worst that happens is your escorted from the building. Which I get is embarrassing. Is the product any better than this embarrassment?

Gosh, I’d like to join in but by choice stopped buying season tickets and attending games in about 2013 (he lost me with no adjustments in the Kansas game, I hung for a little while but futility was confirmed). If the school could provide me with the name of my replacement, I will try to contact them and ask that they can join in the chant!

I’ll be down to do it tonight if anyone else wants to join. We need to all move to an area of the robins center where we will be well heard and do it during a timeout or something.

I’d like a Free Dji petition and Free Dji chants.
I would hold off on this one, as we know - Mooney and the lazy ass AD/Admin won't do anything as he drives the program down the gutter, but if you complain about them, they point to this as more reason not to do anything, or do the opposite. A #FreeDji chant will only get him bench time, and punk @$$ mooniocrity glaring at the offensive parties to say I showed you.. So yes on Mooney chants, as noted they are going to extend him anyway after 18-14 - so may as well voice your concerns anyway.

Just stop going, maybe at some point that will mean something. Chants and billboards didn't work a few years ago, they won't now. Remember, they don't care what we think (they will just get new fans).

that's my thinking too, ur2K. if you want to be "heard" leave your seat empty.

Ya clearly big donors stopping the tap will make a bigger dent and not sure that will happen because most of them seem to like Mooney. In the mean time we need to make some kind of public display because we know that will cause some kind of response. They were pissed about the billboard and demanded that it come down immediately. Chant fire Mooney at games, call in to the radio show, even simply respond to all spider basketball tweets with a simple “fire Mooney”. Do all of this and we will get a response. If nothing else they will just say they stand by Mooney which will be enough to get a lot of fans to completely give up.

Maybe we should appeal to all the VCU ticket holders to join us in not attendin.
