I think everyone would concede last year did not meet fans, player, or coach expectations. Winning 12 games is a disaster by our standards, even if we won in a clean, respectable manner.

That being said we are left at a crossroads....do we blow it up and start over, or do we press forward with what we have?

I have been a long time Mooney guy. I admit I have started to question things in the past year. I would say that Mooney would likely have had 2 additional NCAA appearances on his resume had he received more support in getting guys he recruited through admissions. That being said you are what your record says you are.

If Mooney can keep this team together this off season and get back to flirting with an NCAA bid next year, I am back on the Mooney bus. I think he has a much more receptive partner in the new regime to helping him get kids who can play into Richmond. He has proven he can take multiple types of talent to the fringe of NCAA success and beyond.

That being said, if this team under achieves again and finishes around .500 or outside of the RPI top 75, I think it will be tough to defend him further. That being said, I think this is the low point. The core of this team has the talent. We likely need one more premium player to push us over the top. Cmon Bryce!

@UR Fan 2, I think there is a very good chance that we finish above (probably well above) .500 next season but I also feel like there is an equally good chance that we win just enough to maybe be in the NIT discussion (18-20 wins). That has generally been Mooney's performance record over the last 13 years. Simply "flirting" with an NCAA bid doesn't do it for me after what would be 8 years of not making it. That puts us right back in the "were improving" phase where everyone is waiting until next year again. There are so many great college basketball coaches out there and we are just determined that Mooney is going to get it done. Maybe he will, but a really good coach could have had us in the NCAA's several times over the past 8 years despite what lot of our fans feel about our little mid major program.

Being competitive and losing games should NOT be accepted next year. Being able to find ways to win games. Going to the NCAA tournament if we start on a losing streak expect more empty seats. I am sure we lost some season ticket holders after last year.

Sure would love to see what this team could do if everyone stays and we bring in Sal and Bryce. Even 97 would buy season tickets again! :)

do we have to start this all over again? Why continue to repeat this thread. Is it clicks?
I think Mooney should go but he isn't, so I move on; next year is next year. these statements of position are just getting old, I hope everyone has got it out of their systems.
