Norfolk State

yep, like that georgetown game either at home or up in DC. we have a lot of student athletes from that area and easy to get to. like that game

That Hampton game was the first time I ever saw a member of the chain gang removed mid-game. Not sure what that was all about but it was very strange.
It appeard he was harrassing the players and/or cheer leading.

Completely serious, unfortunately. I was told that he said he "was going to smoke" someone (s), and made his hand and fingers into the shape of a gun.

That's exactly what happened. I've heard multiple first person accounts. At that point Rocco called the AD out of the stands to get the guy out of there. All this happened between the 1st and 2nd quarter. I was listening to the game on the radio. Bob Black was going nuts. It seemed to take 15-20 minutes to start the 2nd quarter.

BTW, I heard on Black's show today that The Norfolk State game is a sellout. I hope the students show up.

It was behavior like that which led the MEAC to opt out of post season play. There were probably so many complaints that they couldn't even host a playoff game.

I don't think that Latrell Scott will put up with dirty play by his team. He's not that kind of guy.

Nor should the other coaches with ties to UR. Corp, Farragelli...
UR did what it needed to do when dismissing Scott.
Scott did (or appears to have done) what he needed to do to get his life back in order.
And we are both in better places now...no hard feelings.

Hopefully we can put them away early so we can see some of the younger guys get some snaps. I'm looking forward to seeing what Kolby Williams can add to our defensive line in the future.

Well, there was also that not winning a playoff game since the '90s thing...

Stonewall, if you know Scott , their will be not dirty shots in our game. Good man who has great respect for UR even though there was a unfortunate situation. On top of that you have Corp and Parker on the staff. First class people.

Why even play a MEAC team? Why not play Georgetown instead?
The MEAC teams play tough football, even if they don't have the athletic ability of some of our folks. Plus, they are in state schools. They probably would feel the same way about us as we do VA Tech, if we didn't play them.
I think we should play at least one of them.

Lauletta is having a terrible game. No timing whatsoever. Offensive line is getting manhandled so far.

Most penalized team I have seen. Rocco's weakness. Mental discipline.

difficult for a team, although we feel it should not be, to come out and play at the same level each week.

Is it just me but is nearly all of the CAA struggling this first half?

In first half,
Delaware/Lafayette 3-3
W&M/Hampton 7-7
Nova/Lehigh 6-14
Towson/St Francis 13-28
UNH/Holy Cross 13-21

Always nice to get a shutout. That doesn't happen very often in today's age of offensive fireworks. Defense was very strong. Our DT's are very good. Norfolk State really didn't have much of a passing game. Once our defense figured out their jet sweep we were able to really clamp down.

Special teams were outstanding. Really good blocking on Jones's TD return and solid kick coverage as well. Offense was hot and cold. You see that a lot early in the season. Offense is all about rhythm and I thought we had some nice drives where we pressed the tempo and let Kyle spin it.

Norfolk State's defense impressed me. They played very fast and were giving our o-line fits by shooting gaps. They also were one of the harder hitting defenses I can remember visiting Robins Stadium and I mean good, clean football hits.
