Mr Hardt, you’re being unfair.

I hear you, but just 2 years ago, went 6-6 OOC with a bad loss to Oral Roberts, but went 13-5 in the A-10 before losing the OT heartbreaker to VCU in the tourney semis.

But we did have a player win the Simon Says competition at halftime during that game, so its like we did win something.

Why not see how things go in the A-10? What if we turn things around, get a top 4 seed, and make some A-10 tourney noise?
A Top 4 seed in a one or max 2 bid A-10 league this year is pretty meaningless.

It is pretty ironic that we use this Top 4 seed rationale as one of our main performance metric. The whole concept of the Top 4 seed is to get the double bye and then you can make a run for an A-10 title and the auto-bid.

Mooney has been terrible in the A-10 tournament, the last time we made any type of noise in the A-10 tourney was when Kevin Anderson was lacing it up. So, we put all our eggs into that basket seemingly every year because we screw the pooch with our OOC performance and then boom were out first or second day of the A-10 tournament. We don't have the depth to make a run in a tournament when you have to play back to back to back games.

And at this point, if we do pull some miracle and win the A-10 tournament, we are probably a 15 or 16 seed given who we've already lost to and assuredly more losses to come.

It was always going to be all about A-10 play this year.
We say that every year because we lay an egg every OOC since our last NCAA.

and make some A-10 tourney noise?

what is noise exactly...have you seen our A10 results? We've made 1 semi in 7 years. Soon to be 8. We're as bad in A10 tourney as we are OOC. Sorry going out with a gritty effort in the quarters is not noise. Mooney needs to WIN the A10 tourney only thing that should make a sound, i.e. keep his job.

Fine. So cheer against us this year if you want. That is your choice. I will choose to keep supporting us and hope we have a very successful year in the A-10 like we did two of our last four years.

I am fully capable of cheering on the team and still wanting the coach fired. Part of my problem with Mooney is that I know he won't be successful. So why delay the obvious.

Nice catch, Mo.
I don't know. I think that's weak.

If someone asks me how Richmond did, I say "we lost" or "we won" and I don't think by using "we" I've fooled anyone into thinking that I played in the game. I strongly suspect you have done the same.

There's plenty to complain about, or disagree about, without going here.

I don’t see us firing Mooney during season so moot point for me but just curious how long is this Xmas window?

Because aren’t football coaches fired by colleges right around Thanksgiving regularly. Many assistant football coaches will lose jobs right after signing day of Dec 19. Right near Xmas.
The college football season ends at Thanksgiving, for most programs making a coaching change. THat's when coaches get fired, at the end of their season.

Look, I think we need a change, all on-board for that. But at the end of the season. A midseason firing accomplishes nothing, and actually gives us one less coach to work with the players.

And for every disgruntled fan that supposedly will break down the Robins Center doors to watch an interim coach, you'll probably have an equal number of Mooney supporters jumping ship.

How many Mooney supporters are there, besides ulla and the people who sit behind the team bench for free?

It was only a few years ago that we went 7-6 OOC with some bad losses before going 12-6 in the A-10.

but just 2 years ago, went 6-6 OOC with a bad loss to Oral Roberts, but went 13-5 in the A-10

Both examples are true, but in both of them we were .500 or better OOC. We have a lot of work to do to get there this season; we already have 6 losses. 6-7 would be an achievement.

Our home losses 2 years ago were to ODU, Texas Tech and Wake Forest. Longwood, Hampton & Oral Roberts are not nearly the same.

Mooney has been terrible in the A-10 tournament, the last time we made any type of noise in the A-10 tourney was when Kevin Anderson was lacing it up.

Don't know if it's terrible, but 10-12 record tells me below average. And correct that was the only time Mooney's team won 3 straight A10 tourney games. Plus A10 last season was weak but had say 3 stronger squads at the top of conference, say 7,8,9, teams ranked above UR this season. Al Michaels would no doubt describe it as a "miracle" if Mooney's team won the A10 tourney.

I still think we can have a good season. It was always going to be all about A-10 play this year. It was only a few years ago that we went 7-6 OOC with some bad losses before going 12-6 in the A-10. Still a lot of basketball left.
Struggling against actual opponents (or in the case of this year, awful opponents) only to then do fairly well against a poor A-10 schedule is a terrible reason to keep a coach. It's actually not a reason at all. Pure complacency.
