Great tournament so far for Daniel Walker at the Tallahassee NCAA regional. Shot 68-67 in the first two rounds and currently stands tied for fourth at -9, two strokes back of the leader.

He has the best score so far among golfers competing as individuals whose teams did not qualify for the regional, and that's the key...the top individual not on a team at each of the six regionals advances to the NCAA final tournament in Atlanta. Among individuals, Walker holds a four-stroke lead over Davidson's Richard Fountain heading into tomorrow's final round.

Congrats to Walker! He closed with a 69 in the final round to finish tied for second at -12, three strokes back of the top spot. He was the top individual player by four strokes, so he advances to the NCAA championship in Atlanta.

Amazing for Walker!!! What an incredible tournament. Making it to Nationals as an individual is so hard. Only six make it in the whole country, one from each region.

Anyone know if this is a first for Richmond golf?

SF, explain the scoring, guess it is some kind of team vs individual deal since you said he was the low scorer yet finished tied for second. thanks, know you are aquatic but also know your numbers and the details on stuff better than most of us.

He was low scorer among individuals not on a team at the regional. He tied for second overall among all golfers.

Each of the six regionals has 13-14 teams of five and either 5 or 10 individuals from teams that did not qualify...75 golfers per regional. At the regionals, they play three rounds, and the top five teams and top individual not on a team advance to finals.
