I’m doubling down on your picks again Sec9. So far it’s working & we’re 2-0. This is a bit of house money game. A step up in comp but we surprise the Goo Moos.
As noted on other thread, Kenpom has this as 72-59 GMU. If I am reading the stats correctly GMU likes a slow pace, and is pretty good at defense. Sounds like a rock fight type of game. It seems like the rotation is becoming more set. To reach Trap's 8-9 wins in conference, think we need to see Tanner continue to progress, and show a lot more on defense. Need Walz to build on the Umass game. 25/15 minute split with Beagle vs Umass. Need Neskovic to show up in first half on offense.
Per Mooney, Roche will be out for this game - had a procedure this morning to re-align his nose after breaking it vs. GW. Should be able to return for Saturday’s game.
Good that Jason will get the procedure he needs ...
I was shocked to see the StubHub prices for the game - huge interest it seems even with the snow. Tickets going for a crazy high $2 w/probably $20 fees. Hard not to make it happen.

When we are good and Mason is not - they always play us tough, and as shown the last few years - we lose. So I expect the reverse to be true this year. Mason is better, and we are not - but we will play this game close. Walz will dominate the boards. Our defense will be gritty. And we will get some timely offense from Neskovic and Apostolos.

Ironically this one of Greg Peterson (VSIN Hoops guy) top plays - on Mason -11.5, I think he had handicapped Mason -14.5. That big number scares me on Mason, but no way I feel good taking us either based on how we have lost some games. I tend to think we lose by 6-8 points.

I ended up not going to the game .. live technically within the city limits so while we have been lucky with a trickle of water Monday and tuesday, we got back normal pressure this morning but still boil warning etc.. but my mother and the entire Westminster Canterbury large retirement community hasn't had any running water in 54+ hours .. insanity. crazy times.

First points come almost 8 minutes into the 2H off a Walz FT…have looked horrible this half.
8 minutes without a point to start the half. We should be out of timeouts trying to get that right. But Moon saving em up for the end when we are down 23!
We are very bad defensively. Havent watched us much this year - - because, ya know, we stink - - but holy cow are we bad defensively. We have help defenders who are "helping" so they leave their man open but they arent helping really - - they stand around and watch the ball and end help helping to guard open space and have no idea where their man is and literally are near no one else either. And we are the worst closeout team I have ever seen. Guys blow by our perimeter guys on every closeout. AP and Neskovik together is untenable defensively. Neither one is athletic, neither one seems to have an idea what we are doing on defense and it doesn't look they even really care to try on defense.
Got a decent chance let's see what they got this last 8.
