I’ve mentioned several times this season, he sees himself as a distributor. Yes, he can pop a 3 and back a guy down for a 6 foot shot, but he really doesn’t take it to the basket much with aggressive strength. He averages about 7 a game and should be able to get a dozen. He’s a big strong guy and should use that. I just don’t know why he passes up so many free shots. IMO that’s on Mooney. At least Beagle looks to take it to the basket.

did u watch Bob and Ungerer post game? They both brought up the "hard to beat someone 3 times" cliche with our next game vs Davidson. Lol I though of u.
I agree I want him to shoot more. He's been our best 3 pt shooter too.
& actually we may have...who stuck around? I ask because I was watching postgame espn+ with Bob & Ungerer and the Goo Moos were congegrating like it was possible. Now they may have just been getting ready to take some pics with what looked like shirts & hats, but idk....
If we don’t have a significant change in our roster next year, then either flush the NIL money down the toilet or give it all to the women’s team. This is not an A10 level roster and definitely not a $1 million+ A10 level roster.
I did see that on tv. Have to spin this pillow fight game in some way, I guess. Also, saw the George Mason players celebrating with their championship gear on the court on the tv too. Upsets me as a fan now to see another team celebrate on our court, even though I understand this wasn’t a title game or anything and just happened to be scheduled where we play them last. Still, rubs me the wrong way and if I was a player would be 100x more upset seeing another team celebrate a championship on my court.
Philly Bob brought this up multiple times during the game and then again postgame. Having so many losses by 7 pts or less. Philly Bob do u read this board? I know u can't help indulging occasionally. Hello...mcfly....think mcfly...this is not some great stat. One, it means we lost a lot. we have more chances to have those quantities. Two, I think we still have 10 games at 10 pt margin losses or more. That's not good Bob. Three, it's perfectly normal to have close losses. Everyone does. The most common margin of defeat in college basketball r the single digits. If u add up % of games on average that will finish 7 pts or less I bet at least a 1/3. Maybe more.

Also incredibly arbitrary. Why not 6pts or 8 pts? Btw, it’s not like 7 pts is particularly close.
but did they cut the nets?....we need first hand confirmation...& would anyone at UR have cared. My guess is they did not....and ended up just pictures but idk because they were sure gathering near the lane & hoop like it was at least possible.
UR handing them the scissors & watching would be a leafy UR thing to do. Hey we started to at Siegel the year we won CAA but were banned from CAA tourney. Think there was more reason to do it under those bs circimstances. But vcu stopped us which was also fair. Almost a fight that I recall.
To Odom credit - btw where is 4700 to tell me Mooney>Odom, that was funny - Odom said they would celebrate but would not cut the nets. They lost anyway but they r probably well above doing that anyway. Celebrate sure...save the nets for a tourney champ, final 4 & natty.
That they had gear is quite surprising as they looked totally uninspired nearly the entire game. Of course, it could also just be the fact that the A10 is not a very good league and they are one of the “best” of the worst. The Broad St boys are easily the best team in my estimation. They lost yesterday because they got complacent just like UR last year. I expect Odom was not happy at all and I expect them to come out blazing the tournament.

The no-call on that travel near the end was egregiously awful, but so was our refusal to guard Maddox behind the arc when that was the one thing they were doing to beat us and it was so freaking obvious what was coming. His last three I about lost my mind yelling to get someone on him, but of course we didn’t and he drained it. Turned out to be the game winner.
Just awful coaching.

he's played too selfishly at times. a number of us have commented on that. some of it is body language too. Now u need some alphas and Dusan is a guy we want taking to basket, he's better at driving and great FT shooter. granted u probably do need a pretty quick 3 there in case u miss to get another chance. but that was too much of a quick off balance shot.
We really don't guard 3 point shooters. Haven't all season. Not a priority in Mooney's arsenal. Just like most other games, 3's are free. GM 3 point shooters wide open most of the night.
Cause he plays zero defense, had a dumb Flagrant 1 in the 1st half, and was on his way to shooting 2/11 for the game and somehow the last play was designed for him to get the shot
Typical Mooney post game response even saying competing, but could tell there was a little more emotion there. Even references coaching a bit, but not directly saying it’s on him to do better. He seems tired of these performances too. I would be too.
We must have been watching different teams all year. Thankful Walz and Tyne will be back and hope Dusan find a team and coach in Europe that doesn't about playing defense.
Neskovic is terrible. Not a winning player. He looks like our best player because he Jack's it up a hundred times a game. But just like Mooney, who is only considering pretty things, some think he is good. But he lacks many winning basketball traits. I hope he soaked 80s and Pq for a hundred grand. Those guys deserve it.
Given his history, I was waiting for Tony Skin to punch Moon in the stones.
not arbitrary. purposeful. I think we've had 3 losses by 7 pts exactly. they know it & thus trying to get as many "close" losses into the stat as possible.
Mason acted like they won the NCAA title at the end of the game. They just beat the 13th ranked team in the conference. They all but stormed the court.
Commented to friends during the game that Mooney being swept by a dude who was nut-punching guys as a player while Mooney was our coach two decades ago must be humbling.

Not fired up emotion, but more exasperated emotion. And ya, misheard the coaching piece. Closest was at the end “we need to do everything we can to change that”. Didn’t really say anything of substance, but at least I got the impression that he’s tired of this seasons performance too.
Cmon man give it up. On another bright note u will get to enjoy moon for probably another 10 years or so. Enjoy!!
well he's got a lot of practice at being tired of it. 8th non winning season. Out of 20. Half of them 20+ loss seasons.
does he ever get tired of losing to vcu?
Spent the evening sitting around a fire outside watching Wicked with friends. Seems like that was a good decision on my part.
