Mens - Fordham @RC Saturday 2/15 6pm ESPN+

Tyne on 🔥

Tremendous 2nd half Tyne

Found a little interesting Moon did not pull D’Entremont after 2 bad 2nd half turnovers. Tho on 1 I did like he took a foul & prevented even a shot on the break w play on ball. Too often we don’t contest those plays hard or take good fouls.

Also interesting again no time for Soulis at 4 or 2 bigs together. Even w AP out. Our forwards r not good ball handlers anyway minus maybe Dusan in half court. Not losing much there at all. pie in sky.

Dusan now leads the team in FT attempts. Until this game Delonnie was still leading with 110 for the season, Dusan now has 111.

Moon with some solid advice tonight.

"Zone!" yet no offense called or adjustments. Hey guys, its zone defense.

To Tanner "Throw the f*cking ball to a guard"

Pure brilliance.

I was two minutes late to the discussion, but can loosely confirm the meniscus discussion early in this thread.

AP out for the season with a torn meniscus, damn

Fwiw moon postgame was asked if AP would play again this year and wasn’t sure but that it didn’t look great right now. & actually said they think it’s torn mcl. Which is worse. Unless he misspoke & meant to say meniscus. But if tear of mcl definitely won’t be back. Not optimistic on Delonnie return either.

razor thing win at home against…Fordham. Ugh.

It took a pretty horrible shooting game from the Rams to win. 16% from 3, 64% from the line and only 38% overall. They beat us in about every statistical category otherwise.

Glad for the win regardless.

Tanner best of forwards at ball handling. Tyne never gave up and he reminds me of Kendall Anthony.

In many ways at this stage, CM can’t jerk players out for bad TOs if there is foul trouble
or simply fewer bodies. The 3 centers are the only ones he can sit quickly. Sort of
surprised Jack G has not gotten in more at guard spot

Jack's problem is that he has not shown any ability to handle the ball against defense at this level, at the guard spot. Last I recall seeing him in the defender ripped him just over half court and had a 1 on 0 layup on the other end. Same thing kept happening in one of the d2 games. Funny thing is back then moon kept giving him minutes over GW3.

We think of him as a F now - apparently Moon too - because he can’t handle ball at all in backcourt and because we love little guards playing together here. But I thought he was always viewed as a SG. At least originally. Listed as G on website. Lot of 3 guard lineups too.

6226 attendance? Looked nothing like that on TV. Nothing. The student section was basically empty. I know I know distributed tickets, that’s why we could put 4470 when JOC reported ~900 in the weathery Loyola game.

But we gotta keep up appearances. In the A10, in small schools nationally, and most importantly of all, in the fans are still behind Coach Mooney attendance metric. VCU will improve the numbers too, even tho 40% will be vcu fans.

But when I see 6226 distributed I still expect to see something resembling it in the stands. I didn’t unless TV feed didn’t do it justice.

Completely agreed. There couldn't have been more than 2500 butts in seats.

As long as all schools are reporting attendance this way, it’s comparing apples to apple, than I have no problem with it. But it does come across as a little disingenuous.

While I am generally skeptical of the attendance figures, you’re way off on this one Mo. I was at the game and it was probably 2/3 full. So I’m guessing more like 5000.
I was at game, most came in wet. My guess would be 4500 in attendance.

Always interesting to see the perspectives of others. I attended last night and from my vantage point it seemed to be maybe 1/3 full. Felt like one of the midday winter break games. However, will admit that at any point in time there’s usually a decent amount of people in the ambulatory for kids club, concessions, etc.

The student section has been lacking all year, so nothing new on that front. Agree with @urfan1 and @MrTbone that the number in attendance was in the 4500+ range. All the “suites” in the upper corners were occupied and they had a long list of groups announced during the game.

Definitely not a packed house and I am not looking forward to a RC full of Rams fans on the 25th. Since the 1st game was so lopsided, maybe there will be apathy from that side too.

I went, against my better judgement. Looked slightly more than half full. Student section was again a barren wasteland. A couple observations:

This looked like the battle for 15th place. Bad basketball from both teams. Fordham couldn't hit the broad side of the barn from 3, fortunately they kept taking them.

1. I thought Tyne had one of his better games of the year, espicially in the 2nd half. If he can play aggressive and yet under control like he did, he has potential.
2. Good minutes from everyone at the center position, Walz and Soulis especially.
3. AP was out due to injury. I didn't miss him running around for 25 minutes doing nothing, nor did the team. Not coincidently, I'm sure, I don't think we stepped out of bounds for no reason all game.
4. Tanner played some good minutes which was nice to see. Mooney let him bring the ball up numerous times, for the life of me, not sure why Fordham didn't press in that situation, but I guess that is why they are in last place.

I stand corrected. The place looked quite empty on TV. Perhaps it was the lighting.

Tanner didn't look all that comfortable at guard ... but he was much more effective in that spot than he's been at forward. let's see it again.

Interesting observation. Tanner certainly shouldn't be bringing the ball up the court, but his move to the off guard position certainly allowed him to make some plays on offense and rebounding the ball that he wasn't making when he was playing wing.
