Mens: Belmont @ RC - Sat 12/14 6pm ESPN+

We continue to not do much well. Lots of unforced turnovers, the obligatory foul of a 3 point shooter, giving up wide open threes etc.

UR fix that damn camera that keeps freezing up! Happened during football broadcasts as well.

Definitely not a Tyne fan. One man team with little to back it up. Needs to eat Kenny Atkinson highlights on dribble drive.

Mentioned this earlier in the season. Seems every team we play has a good outside shooter who kills us. Number 3 drained 5 of 9 3 pointers and finished with 28. Of course many of his shots were uncontested. Why play defense on him? That’d be a crazy idea.

Good for Walz for taking some accountability. First time we’ve really heard anything like that this season.
Sad to hear that the team is having lackadaisical practices. But not really surprising when you have a bunch of rental players. Let’s hope that they can get it together. There aren’t any Auburn’s in the A10, so let’s just work on being respectable in the conference games. Granted playing well in the rest of the OOC games would be a nice first step.

Nice to hear this. My guess is Walz and Hunt, as well as the coaches of course, have been trying and trying to get a few these guys going intensity wise, but sometimes certain guys just don't have it. I wonder about chemistry also. Team chemistry goes a long way toward a successful basketball team, For the 1st time in a long time, ours might not be good.

Wish coach extension would do the same.
I'm sure he has to the team plenty of times already. He's just not gonna throw guys under the bus in interviews. I have no problem with that. If guys hear it in practice and in the locker room, being called out in the media is not gonna make anything better.

Noyes played 8 minutes, went 0-1 with 1 turnover, 3 fouls, and all 0s in every other category.

Tanner played 8 minutes, had 1 turnover, and all 0s in every other category.

That is unreal. 16 combined minutes of invisible, no impact whatsoever basketball.

Lol. I’m pretty sure 72Spider meant Moon needed to answer for it. & wished he’d take personal accountability like Walz. But we know how that goes here. This has zero with Moon getting on players in the media.

Not asking him to throw players under the bus. Asking for him to take personal responsibility. Reminded of Tyler Burton's comment about how much harder Nova's practices were relative to ours. Walz's statement about lackadaisical practices is inexcusable. That falls on Mooney.

I hear you. And can agree that if this is happening in practice, it's unacceptable. Yet another reason why I hate the redshirt idea. I have been mentioning will the redshirts always give 100% every day in practice knowing they will never play this year. Well, I will now take that a step farther. Will the guys playing now bust their butts 100% everyday in practice, knowing we aren't a deep team and knowing they will likely play anyway?

If someone is being lackadaisical in practice, they need to find the bench for awhile till they stop being lackadaisical.

I don't think I've watched a full game all season, and that steak didn't end tonight. No real motivation to make it a priority. But major props to Walz there. He sounded more like a coach than our coach. I don't think I've ever heard a UR player under Mooney say anything like that, but I appreciate his honesty and accountability, and I'll be rooting harder for him the rest of the way.

We now rank 5th in the country in defensive rebounding according to kenpom! Also 4th* in offensive rebounding.

I appreciate the honesty from Walz and leadership of taking accountability. Is concerning though about the lackadaisical practice with the “who cares” mentality. Yes that starts with coaching. It’s one thing to simply just not be a talented team, but to not put effort is inexcusable. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Right now we have neither. Supports one of my earlier points that defense is mostly effort based with a competitive edge/chip on your shoulder mentality. At some point, you have to play with some pride. College is only 4 years and the time flies by. This might be the highest level some of these guys plays as they get jobs outside of basketball. It’s a privilege to play D1 especially at a high level like the A10. You play for yourself, your teammates, and this University we all care about deeply.

Plus tonite was intensity of Dusan and Walz. Overall a pretty good offensive night. If we had Dji on Pierre we win by a dozen . We need to beat Tribe by a dozen and VMI by 2 dozen to have confidence going into conference schedule.
